So I got a new ATM card and added it to my Walmart.com account. Right after I did I seen a $1 charge on my bank account. I immediately took the card off my Walmart.com account. And the charge went away from my bank. A few days have gone by, I decided to add my card back to my Walmart.com account. And after I did the $1 is now appearing again. What is this charge? Should I call Walmart?

It’s a temporary charge to verify it is a valid card. Nothing to worry about.

Yeah I see those all the time from different venders when I place online orders etc. The $1 charge will go away after the number of days designated by your bank for a pending to charge to stay on an account. Usually it's 2-3 business days but check with your bank. This applies to credit cards as well. It's a way to make sure the credit or debit card is valid before the merchant attempts any current or future charges. In the case of Walmart.com you won't see any actual Walmart.com charges actually post to your account until you buy something.

January 4, 2024 - Yeah not exactly. 2 cent items are either for product recall (mislabeling is a common one) or end of product life for the season/promo. All recalls due to safety will be flagged at the till and won't be able to purchase (usually for food products).

I was told to stop customers from buying 0.02 items but today a woman said that she was allowed to buy 0.02. I cancelled the transaction. Was I wrong? Why would she say that?

by policy we sell the item @ .02c remove the remainder from the shelves.

As per policy we have to sell it. We can’t deny a customer their transaction no matter how many items they have. There has been numerous emails and a few amp notes about this year already. ASM’s, lead compliance and DM’s all have access to the report that gives all the .02c items and should be checked first thing in the morning and worked on. It is our responsibility as associates to get these items off the sales floor as soon as possible to prevent this. I’ve suggested that the areas mostly affected by this should have dm’s and/or a couple of associates start at 5 to try and get as much pulled before store opening to prevent customers from finding them. And with a Facebook group pretty much dedicated to customers posting their .02c finds all across Canada, there’s going to be even more people coming in looking for all those items.
