The few I've seen go under the 1k mark have been Asus Tuf F15 and maybe HP Omen at some point. Lenovo Loq and Slim 5 are out because I really want that iGPU.
My preference for the laptop are in this order: iGPU>ram upgradability>Thermals>Build quality>Storage upgradability>screen
Any help with the pros and cons of each would be appreciated!
Hey everyone,
I'm looking to buy a gaming laptop around $1,000 (give or take $50–100) and could use some help narrowing down the best options.
What I'm looking for:
CPU: Intel Core i7 or Core Ultra 7
GPU Preference: RTX 4070 > 5060 = 4060 (I’m okay with 4060 if it’s well-optimized)
Display: At least 120 Hz refresh rate, with 100% DCI-P3 or 100% sRGB color accuracy
Memory & Storage: Minimum 16 GB RAM (prefer 32 GB) and 512 GB SSD (or better)
Preferred Brands: ASUS, Dell (including Alienware), Acer, MSI, HP, Lenovo
Use Case:
Mainly for AAA gaming, AI/ML learning, a bit of video editing, and general productivity tasks. I’d prefer something with solid thermals and build quality—doesn’t need to be ultra-thin, just reliable and long-lasting.
Would love recommendations from anyone who’s recently bought something similar, or if you’ve seen any current deals that fit this spec.
Thanks in advance!
