Serious question, what’s the likelihood Ahmed gets Australian of the Year.
Australian of the year goes to someone that has given years of service generally. I think Ahmed should get many awards but I don't know if getting it for one act is in the spirit of the award. Personally I wouldn't have a problem with it but I doubt it will happen. More on reddit.com

Ahmed wasn’t the only hero who fought the gunmen
Not just Ahmed. There's Wayne who ran in to look for his daughter and Jess who shielded Wayne's 3 year old with her body despite being shot. https://www.news.com.au/national/nsw-act/got-your-daughter-3yo-found-under-victim/news-story/a2f52ad7106a049f98fa8b75e9d03640 There's the police and respondents. The folks who carried Ahmed while he was bleeding away and others who helped folks who were injured. There's the Aussie car club (Carhub Australia) that started a gofund me and put in 50k and everyone else who donated to it. There's so many heroes and helpers and folks who want to help but are unsure how. I'm grateful for both the bravery on the day and the outpouring of support shown in the aftermath edit as more news comes out: The - as yet - unnamed couple that paid with their lives when confronting the attacker. The guy who threw stuff at the shooter who also paid with his life. The police officers who ran towards the carnage with guns drawn. So many heroes More on reddit.com

If Ahmed Al Ahmed had shot the shooter
For a start, I think he was shot by the second shooter, the son, not the father, who he took the gun from (?). It's unclear but that's how it appeared from the video I saw. Second, the neural / chemical architecture of his brain in the exact moment he wrestled the gun away is that made the decision. It was a result of a complex combination of his genetics, life experiences and what he'd had to eat / drink / smoke / snort in the previous 24 hours. More on reddit.com

$300,000 raised via GoFundMe for hero Ahmed al Ahmed who disarmed gunman
Putting the ‘lifesaver’ back into Bondi. What’s disturbing are those comments that say he should have done more. Like seriously this hero was armed with discipline and restraint and not hindsight. More on reddit.com
