Had my R10 for 10 days working fine. Been on this screen for the past 3 hours. What should I do?
Shut Down PC. Restart. Do this 2-3 times. Windows recovery will kick in and should fix the problem. Can you please then: Click start. Click settings. Go to update and security. Then windows update Does it tell you what update failed? This is happening a lot in the past few days and needs to be tracked down as to what is causing it. More on reddit.com

Solved! - My Alienware laptop won’t update or start up | Tom's Guide Forum
December 25, 2018 - Until you take away its ability to continue trying the update, hence the no WiFi, then it should load. ... try to look on the keyboard for the wifi key it should be like f3 or f4 or something like that. press it as soon as it is going into the os then shut it off by holding the power button in. see if the wifi stays off wen you power it back on. if that doesnt work call dell they are very helpfull ... in windows 10 updates can mess up pretty bad.

m15 R1, Alienware Update stuck in an operation | DELL Technologies
August 28, 2020 - If Alienware Update continues to be stuck in an operation, your OS C: disk may have errors or corrupted files. Open a command prompt and run a "chkdsk /f /r /x" (that's /f for "fix", /r for "relocate" data from bad sectors, /x for "eXit windows".

Thanks for your reply! Last night I decided to unplug the ac adapters (Area 51 has two of them) and let the battery die. I can’t say for sure what exactly happened but an hour or two later in desperation I tried holding the power button down for two minutes straight… I had done this before several times… still no effect… but then about one minute after I had stopped holding the power button down it shut down on its own. Not sure what did it… maybe finally ran out of battery? I plugged it back in and booted again and it took me to a screen with the Alienware logo at the top saying 'battery has been disable' (yes it actually did say 'disable' instead of 'disabled') and then something about the battery being overheated. From this portal I was able to run a system scan and it found no problems. I restarted again this time tapping F2 and confirmed that battery and ac adapter were functioning properly… then rebooted and it came up with a screen saying it was finishing windows update… after that it booted normally and seems fully functional. Not sure exactly what fixed it but my best guess is battery finally died… I hope this helps someone who might finds themselves in the same situation.  JD

Hi @Johnny Dixon , I got you so its no problem. I had the same issue when my dads AREA 51M was doing a BIOS Update and he closed the lid during it and that must've corrupted something because it wasn't turning off. I spent 2 hours diagnosing and fixing it to come out with the solution: unscrew all the screws attaching the laptops bottom panel where the fan is and use a suction cup to pull it out gently. Then even though the laptop IS on still unplug the battery connector from the motherboard. DONT REMOVE THE BATTERY, just unplug it. Then the laptop should shut off and then you need to hold the power button for 30 seconds. Then hold CTRL+ ESC while your plugging the battery back in and the laptop should boot!

X15 R2, AWCC update stuck at 70% then fails | DELL Technologies
September 9, 2023 - On my Alienware X15 R2 I can't install the AWCC (Alienware Command Center) update required. The problem raised anter an automatical update from version 5.5.49.0, A00 to 5.5.51.0, A00. The update starts automatically, a notifier in my Windows notification panel reports the percentage of update advancement and it gets stuck at 70%. An invisible window "Alienware Command Center - InstallShield Wizard" appears.

r/Alienware on Reddit: Windows update and now stuck on update screen
October 15, 2021 -

I had a notification that a Windows Update was needed and so I scheduled it to install late last night(around 1am) and when I woke up this morning my monitor(which is a Vizio tv) is stuck on the "Please wait while we install a system update" screen. It has been this way since I woke up at 7am and possibly even longer considering when the update took place.

Windows said it was a Firmware update and usually they never do this or take that long. Most times updates are done by the time I wake up.

I did sort of restart my PC and it booted back up to an update screen that said it was 30% complete, did a restarting screen and now it's back to the please wait screen.

I'm genuinely afraid to touch it at this point...

UPDATE: Just jumping in to say that my updates are not automatic, I do have to approve them. I just saw this one and didn't think anything of it. Also, I dunno if it matters but I can definitely hear the fan on my PC running(it usually does this if it's loading something) so I dunno if that is an indicator of it doing anything or not.

UPDATE.2: I turned it off and back on again and got it to boot up. It went to the update progress screen went from 34% up to 100% and then windows started up as if nothing had happened. Everything seems to be going okay so far, but if anything changes I will update again.

r/Alienware on Reddit: BIOS Update taking forever. I want to sleep but I'm stressing
December 10, 2020 -

I'm on an Alienware Aurora R11. I tried updating my BIOS as I do, with Alienware Update this time. It's either that or Support Assist. I've never ran into problems before and I didn't know until today that people have bricked their motherboards by doing this. I'm really scared because I just dropped 1900 on this computer a few days ago and I absolutely can't afford to repair it, let alone replace it. Currently, the Alienware Update window says:
Installing Updates (3 of 3)
Warning: The current operation can no longer be cancelled.
(The warning you normally get about not unplugging anything or whatever. you know)
I have automatically restart system when required checked. It has not turned off even once.
Cancel is partially faded out and I can't click on it.
The more I look into this, the more stressed I get. I need sleep but I'm so tense and shaking, I feel like everything I've just invested in could collapse.
I don't know if I said this already or if it was clear, but the update is still going on. I'm writing this from the same computer that is being updated. I need to get this post out so I'm not making any edits at the moment. Sorry.

I have Dell SupportAssist v4.0.3.61632 installed. Per my attached screenshot, the 'Another scan is in progress. Please try again after some time. We were unable to start the scan as another scan is already in progress.' I have deleted, reloaded, and re-run the app several times. I continue to receive the same error message. What is being done to resolve this error/problem?

If your system is still under warranty, please contact support by clicking on Get Help Now at the bottom right corner of the screen to receive individualized support.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you're experiencing issues with SupportAssist not working as expected, we recommend starting with a clean uninstall followed by a fresh install. Go to Control Panel, then Add or Remove Programs, and then Uninstall. Afterwards, restart your computer (do not skip this step, it is essential to resolve the issue) Reinstall Support Assist from this link > https://www.dell.com/pt-br/lp/dt/support-assist-for-pcs Click Launch and test the new version. If you encounter issues reinstalling SupportAssist, follow these steps: Download the Microsoft Troubleshooter Tool, open the file, and click Next to run the tool. Click Next, select Uninstalling, choose Dell SupportAssist from the list of programs, and click Next to uninstall. If the uninstallation was successful, close the troubleshooter and restart the system (do not skip this step, it is essential to resolve the issue). Ensure that the following five Windows services are removed from Windows Services when an uninstall is done and started when an upgrade or new install is performed. If they were not removed, please refer to the video below for the complete step-by-step instructions:
