Why will my windows 11 laptop not load past the alienware logo and the windows log? - Microsoft Q&A
A practical next step is to create a bootable Windows 11 installation USB on another PC using Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool, then insert that USB into your Alienware and use the F12 boot menu (or your system’s equivalent) to load from the USB.

Aurora 13, unable to reinstall Win 11 Home!
Create a USB installer using Windows Creation Tool. Installation will require to delete all partition on the boot drive. After the operating system is properly setup, open the chassis (with power off of course) to reconnect the cables and your D drive will be recognized. System drivers can be download and install from Dell support site. For details and settings instructions, review this discussion https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/alienware... Hi, Richard Collins3

Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

If your Windows 11 USB is not being recognized as a bootable device, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Check USB Format and Partition Style: Ensure that the USB drive is formatted as FAT32 and uses a GPT partition style, as this is required for UEFI boot.
  2. BIOS/UEFI Settings:
    • Ensure that the USB drive is recognized in the BIOS/UEFI.
    • Check if the USB boot is enabled in the BIOS/UEFI settings.
    • If your PC supports UEFI, make sure it's not set to Legacy or CSM boot mode.
    • Check the boot order to ensure the USB drive is listed as the first boot device.
  3. Fast Boot: Disable Fast Boot in the BIOS/UEFI settings, as this can sometimes prevent the system from recognizing bootable USB drives.
  4. Create a New Bootable USB: If you have access to another Windows machine, you can try creating a new bootable USB using the Windows Media Creation Tool.
    • After downloading, run the media creation tool. You need to be an administrator to run this tool.
    • If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
    • On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
    • Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit) for Windows 11.
    • Select which media you want to use:
    • USB flash drive: Attach a blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space. Any content on the flash drive will be deleted.
  5. Check for Hardware Issues: There might be a hardware issue with the USB ports or the motherboard. Test the USB on another computer to ensure it's working correctly. You can also try plugging the USB into a different port. Sometimes certain ports do not support booting.

Please remember to back up any important data from your Ubuntu installation before attempting to install Windows 11, as the installation process will erase all data on the hard drive.

If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

Best Regards

Hi Jeffrey. thanks for asking.

The short answer is no, your suggestions did't solve the issue. None of those Bios settings made a difference (though I did spend a long time adjusting them to find a solution), and though I downloaded the media creation tool, it just wouldn't run. Whilst I have some experience using PC's and installing operating systems I couldn't find a solution so took the laptop to a professsional IT person, who also needed several hours to diagnose the issue (it was apparently some incompatability with an Intel memory component). He made me a new USB with some additions from Intel, which worked fine.

So the question is answered, though not by you or me, and at some cost to me.

All's well that ends well.

Cheers

Richard

r/Alienware on Reddit: Alienware Aurora 13 won’t load Windows 11 after “update “
September 10, 2023 -

Bear with me please, I’m not super familiar posting on Reddit.

I have the Aurora R13, 12900F, 3080 version. I was playing Starfield last night and was shutting my PC down. Command Center said there was an update to install, in the notifications area, bottom right. I clicked on that first, but then though I was shutting down so I changed my mind and went to do the update through the shut down menu “Update then shut down” option through the Windows button. The PC restarted, then went to a BIOS update progress bar, and when it finished, it restarted and displayed the Diagnose/Attempting to repair message under the AW logo. Then it goes to a blue screen saying it can’t fix Windows and has the Shut Down and Advanced Options buttons. Now, going through those options, I tried EVERYTHING. It won’t roll back updates, can’t fix Windows, can’t load the recovery which was just a few hours before, can’t ever reset the install to factory. I ran a chkdsk and couldn’t fix it that way. I was able to install an older BIOS version but that didn’t work. Chkdsk did find bad spots on the OS nvme drive and “fixed” them, but that didn’t help. I went through the Dell Support software and tried all the options there and that didn’t help. So I started to do a clean install of Windows 10 with a usb drive from an old build, but it saw no hard drives to install to. I have since put W 11 on a usb but haven’t had a chance to try that since I’m now at work. Any ideas and advice would be greatly appreciated. It’s my first AW desktop and I just got it in March. I’ve been loving it so far with no issues. My only changes were to add a mechanical HD and an SSD for storage. And I removed the black plastic thing blocking the bottom front fan. Sorry for the wall of text.

Booting from USB | DELL Technologies
April 26, 2023 - For the Alienware 17 R4 (I have one as well), if your USB stick is not showing up in the F12 menu and you have not disabled USB booting for UEFI in the BIOS, then there is likely a problem with your USB stick. I would suggest re-creating it using the Microsoft MCT located here: ... Have created windows 10 recovery USB drive and Acronis 2017 recovery USB media.
