r/AllyBank on Reddit: Ally auto check free pay with debit card
January 31, 2024 -
I used check free pay to pay my auto loan payment Friday evening and it's still not showing. It's been processed. Will it take till Monday. The agent on the phone said it'll show the next day

By "next day" the agent meant banking day or business day. If the transaction was processed on Friday, it will most likely show up on the next business day - which is Monday.

Did it end up being Monday? I’m in the exact same boat and stressing because my account says past due but my debit card was charged with them

r/AllyBank on Reddit: Ally Bill pay question - any way to tell if the payment method is check or electronic?
November 26, 2023 -
Just setup some payees in Ally bill pay. Is there any way to tell from the payee list if the payment would be sent electronically or by check?
In discover the payees show the delivery method, but not seeing anything like that in ally, so was curious.

Yes, if the date is 1-3 days out that is electronic. If the date is 7 days out that is mailed check.

Within the last ~10 days, I've had 2 separate Ally bill pay issues after ~4 years of banking and using their bill pay service. One issue concerns the payment method their "3rd party" bill pay system uses. Two different CS reps at Ally told me they use a 3rd party system that chooses, seemingly at random, the payment method. This is all per CS reps ... I'm not making this stuff up. For years I've had payments set up with Ally bill pay and one has been for a mortgage. That mortgage payment has been made on time, like clockwork. The money has come out of my Ally checking on the date I set up in bill pay (28th of the month), and has been received by my mortgage lender, like clockwork, and paid. Yet, suddenly in October that didn't happen. No deduction on the 28th and no payment posted to my mortgage lender (even as of today, Nov 6). Ally has advised me that their 3rd party bill pay company (I've been told two names, today I was told "Fiserv") chooses the payment method at random and, this time chose a physical check to be sent. However, that check (evidently "cut on October 23rd") was sent via USPS and without any traceability. My conclusion has been: cancel all bill pay with Ally and begin searching for a new financial institution altogether. I've lost all confidence in Ally's bill pay capability, and really find it annoying when a company doesn't take accountability for a 3rd party product not working ... it is not on me to chase down whoever the 3rd party is to track down my mortgage payment: Ally should be doing that. Ally has white-labeled the product and should do more for their clients.
