May 19, 2024 - Quality - keyboard is very high quality and touchpad supports gestures ... Impractical for doing typing and writing at the same time requires disengagement from backrest to then write.

Review of the 13-inch Magic Keyboard for iPad (2nd generation) – tow.com
May 22, 2024 - The Magic Keyboard does take a step back in a couple of areas worth mentioning over the previous version. The change to the cantilever hinge’s max angle has introduced a regression in the iPad Pro’s lap-ability.

I was wrong about Apple’s new Magic Keyboard for the iPad Pro - Digital Trends
Rocking movement issue on the Magic Keyboard for 2024 iPad Pro · The biggest flaw is associated with resting state ergonomics. If you’re tapping on the screen or drawing on it with the Apple Pencil, especially in the upper half, the whole assembly rocks and wants to topple over.

Apple Magic Keyboard expands M4 iPad Pro to its full potential [Review]
December 27, 2024 - The trackpad registers my finger movements and taps perfectly. It’s a significant improvement — the one in the earlier Magic Keyboard for iPad was not great. For the 2024 redesign, Apple also replaced the Magic Keyboard’s plastic palm ...

New Apple Magic Keyboard is still a high price to pay for Touch ID [Review]
November 16, 2024 - You can also click the button at any time to instantly lock your Mac — much faster than the Command-Control-Q keyboard shortcut. The Touch ID key has a different switch than the other keys; it takes more force to press so you’re less likely to click it accidentally. Without Touch ID, you have a Lock key instead. Which is certainly more useful in 2024 than the CD Eject key that was in its place before. You can also pair your Mac with an Apple Watch, and get all the same features — though the interface is a little less elegant.

Review: Apple Magic Keyboard With Touch ID And Numeric Keypad | The IT Nerd
May 3, 2024 - Now if you’re someone who doesn’t want to buy a new keyboard, and needs a bit more incline from their Magic Keyboard, this product might help you. I base that on feedback from clients who have tried this product and reported back that it helped to put the keyboard at an angle that works for them. But the fact that this product exists at all shows that maybe Apple needs to reconsider this design. Finally, there’s this. Why on God’s green Earth does this keyboard have a Lightning connector for connection and charging purposes? It’s 2024 and Apple should have moved this to USB-C by now.

iPad Pro Magic Keyboard 2024 Review: A Wobbly Perfection
September 4, 2024 - We have covered all the good things about the new M4 iPad Pro Magic Keyboard, but as Brock would say, here comes the pain, or at least the pain point. The biggest drawback of this keyboard is the wobble. Apple has changed the hinge from a ...

January 15, 2025 - But there are 3 things I don’t like about the Magic Keyboard. First, it adds quite a bit of weight to the iPad. By itself, this is the lightest and thinnest iPad, even thinner than the iPod Nano which we old farts used to carry in our pockets. But with the Magic Keyboard, it weighs as much as a small laptop.

October 31, 2024 - Not that the trackpad was bad on the previous version of the Apple Magic Keyboard but the larger touchpad is a welcome update. The larger touchpad makes it easier to use as it makes it similar to using the trackpad on a MacBook.

Apple Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad (USB-C)
Apple's Magic Keyboard With Touch ID and Numeric Keypad (USB-C) is a competent daily driver that the Apple faithful will enjoy. Our main quibble: While the USB-C compatibility is a welcome update, the overall design is past its prime. Mild Magic remix just adds USB-C

Hands-On: Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad Air 11-Inch (M3) - Thurrott.com
July 4, 2025 - When you close the iPad and Magic Keyboard, it’s obviously thicker and heavier than when using just the iPad with a case or cover. But I feel one would get used to that, and it’s not terrible. It’s actually pretty amazing how thin it is, really, given the functionality. I’ve used Apple Pages, iA Writer (a Markdown editor), and Microsoft Word to see whether any had a particular advantage.

r/ipad on Reddit: My Review of the Magic Keyboard after 1 week of usage
January 25, 2025 -

First and foremost, I don’t like how YouTubers always promote the iPad Pro’s. I personally use an iPad Air M2 13” 256GB, which is more than enough power for me personally. I’ll be honest, I never saw why it Apple would make a Magic Keyboard for the iPad, as I always thought it was just a flex to be real with you. (Okay, I’ll admit I was a hater😂), then after buying one luckily brand new sealed at a significant discount, I now see why people say you can potentially use this in a laptop-like way, I’ve been primarily using this setup mainly the whole week intentionally with my full time job and studies, it really did the wonders for me. I feel less distracted than using my MacBook to be quite frank and felt I was way more productive using this Magic Keyboard with my iPad Air 13”, I personally use it as an alternative laptop just in case if my M1 MacBook Air breaks, god forbid, it really excelled in the experience for me with the iPad. One thing I was really concerned with in the beginning was the battery life as I was scared a full charge wouldn’t last the whole day. Luckily, it does! I take it everywhere with me now more than my MacBook, even to the office, I only go once a week for meetings that mandatory to attend. I do my banking, signing documents is more easier (now just need to get the Apple Pencil, will probably get the Apple Pencil Pro sometime later in the year), sending emails, sending documents from my iCloud Drive from my stuff from my MacBook, making and editing documents to give to new clients. Taking it to meeting to make notes (with the note app) instead of having a diary, it honestly makes my life so much easier, I don’t really care about not having the cellular version of the iPad, as i use my iPhone as hotspot and buy a lot of data monthly, and mainly around WiFi luckily. People are even shocked at the workplace that I am using an iPad to do my work, as they don’t really know what an iPad is capable of. In first world countries in the field I’m in. They mainly use iPads with a Magic Keyboard to do their work as it involves a lot of research/prospecting in properties. The keyboard hasn’t left my iPad ever since. I really wouldn’t consider myself a heavy user, due to the fact I don’t photo edit, video edit, I luckily have a professional photographer who specialises in taking photos of homes before putting it on the market and he is very good at it. Then just stuff for me and then emails the photos.

r/iPadPro on Reddit: Is the new Magic Keyboard that much better compared to the old one?
September 27, 2024 -

I have an 11” M1 and use it most of the time for writing purposes. I have a third party keyboard and it was good enough until I started to use the iPad more than my laptop and realized that I need a better writing/trackpad experience.

I’ve also been debating on getting the a 13” iPad (still not sure if the pro m1, the air m2, or the pro m4 ). I don’t really need the power of the M4 nor care much about the new features , but I’m very interested in the new Magic Keyboard and that alone could be the reason to choose a higher end iPad but only if the experience in the new Magic Keyboard id significantly better than the one on the old Magic Keyboard.

So can you tell me more about the differences in comfort and usability between the old and the new Magic Keyboard? I’m interested in both typing and the trackpad.

Thank you!
