What are your experiences with the 2nd gen Apple Pencil?
One thing to note especially with all Apple products having bad reviews is that it seems people only review if they have a bad experience.

Does anyone else think it's kind of ridiculous that the 2nd generation pencil is the one that's essentially retired? It's far superior to the 1st generation yet the 1st generation is still compatible with the iPad (A16). No new iPads have been released that support the 2nd generation. I own the 2nd generation and I love it but it feels so dumb that none of the new iPads I buy work with it.
Hi, I'm currently on the fence about buying an 11" iPad Pro with the new Apple Pencil, but I'm curious if there are any artists/illustrators out there who have used the 2nd gen Apple Pencil for a month or longer and can report on their experiences with it?
From a cursory glance on Apple's online store, the reviews on it are pretty divisive, and many of the reviews echo the complaints of the 2nd gen pencil failing after a week/month.
I really like the sleek form factor of the newer iPad Pro and being able to charge the pencil by magnetically attaching it, but I'm worried about all the problems people seem to be having with it, and would love to hear some firsthand experiences you guys have had with your 2nd gen Pencil, for better or worse.
Thanks.

So I've had the IPP 11" and Apple Pencil 2 since December, honestly, I've only had good experiences. The new IPP makes the old one's bezels look ugly and thick. I haven't had any bending issues and I keep my iPads in cases anyway as they end up in my bag with tonnes of other crap that could scratch it.
The Apple Pencil 2 really brings the IPP out of it's shell though! The wireless charging is a godsend, no more silly 'Pencil dagger', and it gives the case-less among us the ability to keep the Pencil attached without needing a case! I've read issues of metal dust sticking to the magnet part of the Pencil 2, but I haven't experienced this personally!
I used mine, on average, an hour a day I'd say? Still no issues in the three months I've had it, I prefer the matte texture over the shiny plastic of the old Pencil.
The Pencil 2 also has the 'Double tap' feature on the flat side, which is incredibly useful if you're an artist, I use this a lot in Procreate to switch between brushes and my eraser, but also works in Affinity Designer etc!
If you have any other specific questions let me know!
My friend just got an iPad mini 6th gen and I’m wondering which Apple Pencil would be best suited for that model.
From my understanding the 2 has more functionality over the USB-C Pencil, but I don’t know whether those certain functions are worth it due to limitations I am not considering when using the iPad model she has vs something like an Pad Pro model.
Any advice for which to get and why?
I’ve had an 11-inch iPad Pro M1 since late 2021. I was really looking forward to the M4 iPads. I am thoroughly impreby how thin they are and how great the OLED screen will look. 3 years later I think this was a perfect time to upgrade my iPad as I've started seeing the battery life deteriorate.
I also have a 2nd gen Pencil that cost 130$ in 2022 and it still costs the same. It works with every other iPad Pro but the new one. I refuse to believe a company of Apple's calibre can't figure out a small charging magnets.
Apple gives me 400$ back for my old iPad but having to basically buy a new Apple Pencil as well rubs me the wrong way and hence I just might hold on to the 2021 iPad and the pencil.
Rant over.
Anyone else feeling the same way?
