I just wanted to share my personal experience when going from a Watch 7 alluminium to a Ultra 2.
I did not have any issues with a regular Watch in terms of battery life since I do not monitor sleep with my Watch. I usually ended my day with 40% battery and put the Watch on charge at night. But wow, its a big difference. Now i charge my Watch to 80% and after two days its around 30-40%, so it should go for 3 days with a full charge no problem. Great to be more flexible around charging!
I also notice the screen is much easier to see in the sun of course because of the 3000 nits display.
Its small things, but the battery life is the most important thing for me, its a game changer. All in all very happy with my switch. It took a little while to get used to the added size and weight going from a 41 mm 7.

Thanks for your view! I'm also currently debating whether to upgrade to Ultra 2 or give my Series 7 one more year. Right now it's at 82% maximum capacity and it's starting to show its age – I need to have at least 50% to be 'safe' on an outdoor 5k run while streaming downloaded music from my Watch without turning on Low Power Mode. Apart from that, I'm not sure if there's that much to convince me to jump these two generations...

After using my 45mm GPS only series 7, I was looking for an upgrade as the battery was starting to show its age + wanting some of the new features that the Ultra watch offers. I got the Ultra 2 a week ago tomorrow at an Apple Store where I was able to get decent trade in value on my series 7, to help offset the (arguably) high price of the Ultra 2. So far I haven’t been under 90% battery at the end of the day, whereas my series 7 would be almost dead. The Ultra 2 is amazing!!

Hey everyone,
I currently have an Apple Watch Series 7 that I bought in 2021, and I’m considering upgrading to the Apple Watch Ultra 2. As of right now we don't know what new features AWU3 will ship with. It's rumored to have blood pressure monitoring, satellite connectivity (already a feature in iPhone), and 5G. The rumored new features don't really impress me enough. Smart watch blood pressure monitoring has to be taken with a grain of salt, it may alert you to knowing you have high blood pressure, but if you want more accurate readings you'll need an arm cuff style monitor. I always carry my phone so my watch having satellite connectivity isn't a huge deal. I don't use cellular so 5G means nothing to me. There could be physical changes like making the watch a hair thinner, or slightly brighter display, etc. But it would be 100% speculation. All that said, I think it's worth switching if you want to right now. Waiting until Sep/October is too long to wait, if it were August I may recommend waiting instead. I very recently purchased my Ultra 2 and didn't have any second thoughts about future releases. Apple Watches have very marginal upgrades over time.

I’m looking to upgrade my series 7, and don’t really care for battery life, as I charge it when I shower, and that lasts me all day, I also have a smaller wrist, but man do I love the way the ultra looks! It’s just such cool looking watch, and I am thinking about getting one solely for the looks, I’m thinking about the natural, even though I love the black more, but don’t want to worry about scratches.
What were your reasons to get the Ultra over the regular one? Do you actually use it for its intended or supposedly intended purposes? Am I making a mistake buying a more expensive watch that I wouldn’t really use all its functions?

I went from the 7 to the ultra 2 and have zero regrets. I find the flat screen to be easier to use and see. The battery life is great. I use mine for calls occasionally so the better speakers help. I use my watch for very limited things but wouldn’t change. The action button is nice. Good luck.
