Hi, I am hoping a Verizon employee or someone more experienced with Cellular Apple Watch plans can help me out. The person I spoke with on the phone at Verizon's customer service team was polite and friendly, but not very helpful.
We just had a death in the family and to help with costs, we're trying to bring my mother-in-law's phone to our account. Additionally, because she often leaves her phone at home while going out to do chores, we'd like to get her a Series 10 Apple Watch so she can reach us even if she leaves her phone behind.
We're working on transferring her number to my account under an Unlimited Welcome plan. So assume all this is after her phone number is on my account.
I'm trying to understand the following questions.
Monthly costs for an Apple Watch line appear to be $15 per line. We don't have any other smartwatch lines on the account, but we have two lines on Unlimited Plus which says online it qualifies for a 50% discount on a smartwatch plan (so $7.50 post-discount). If we have two lines on Unlimited Plus, and want to add a second smartwatch later, would we still qualify for a discount on the second smartwatch line? Or do you have to have an Unlimited Ultimate line to qualify for two discounted Smartwatch lines?
I've only ever used GPS (non-cellular) Apple Watch products myself. Looking online I've read that Verizon's "Numbershare" is how we would connect her phone number and the watch's cellular service so that calls and messages to her number would go to the watch even if it's on cellular. Is setting up Numbershare something that's configured only on the Verizon account, or does it require configuration on the actual Watch itself?
Based on https://www.verizon.com/solutions-and-services/add-ons/mobile/numbershare-mobile/ it looks like there may be an additional $15 cost for Numbershare (in addition to the $7.50 [discounted $15] for the watch line). Is that correct?
Is there any benefit to purchasing the Watch through Verizon versus Apple? It looks like all relevant promotions for Watch purchases also require adding a new phone line, which we're not doing. So it doesn't look like there's any purchase benefit -- but is it easier for setting up the service in any way?
