Great, good to know. My question is, can I take out the USB Drive that is plugged in right now that I tried these steps on? The solid green light is on, and I'm wondering if I can just pull it out without causing any damage to the motherboard.
Pretty sure a solid light means the procedure didn't start. The light should be OFF when it's done.
You can shutdown the system. It's fine. The BIOS flashback didn't work or should I say didn't start. Answer from Nemesia on forums.tomshardware.com

r/LinusTechTips on Reddit: Using Bios Flashback, LED has been on for over an hour
November 6, 2023 -
Trying to update the BIOS, watched the tutorial on the ASUS website. LED is supposed to turn off when update is finished, but it been on for over an hour. Wondering if it usually takes this long. Video said not to power off computer, remove flash drive, or press reset cmos button.

According to quick googling, solid light means the process didn't start or failed. It should blink and then turn off if it's successful. Try again and if it doesn't work, check the USB if it's formatted correctly and the bios file is renamed.

Did you try looking at it and saying out loud "what the hell"?

April 9, 2026 - *The BIOS file size will affect the update time. It can be completed in 8 minutes. Please do not remove the USB flash drive, unplug the power supply, turn on the power or press the CLR_CMOS button during the execution. This will cause the update to be interrupted and the system will not boot. (Ex: ROG CROSSHAIR VII HERO model, Flashback indicator flashes) 8. Wait until the light goes out, indicating that the BIOS updating process is completed.

October 4, 2024 - It happens only with coldboot(windows > shutdown) and not with reboot, also not hapenning if I use hibernate though I only tested with hibernate a few times. It also usually doesn't happen immediately after shutdown, as in: if I tried to boot the PC again immediately (within 1 min) after shutdown it usually works (though I did encounter the problem a few times). The current BIOS version is 3024. I updated to this version a few days ago via BIOS menu (not BIOS flashback) after I have this issue, and also cleared CMOS afterward.

March 5, 2024 - The USB BIOS Flashback process usually takes one to two minute. The light staying solid means the process has completed or failed. If your system is working fine, you can update the BIOS through the EZ Flash Utility inside the BIOS.

Trying every combination to flash my ASUS motherboard's BIOS - Jeff Geerling
February 15, 2023 - Well, with the two USB 3.0 drives I was testing (both formatted as FAT32), I got three blinks, then the LED stayed lit—an indication the process did not succeed. So I finally tried again with the USB 2.0 drive, and lo and behold, the thing finally worked—and now in BIOS I have options for setting the AMD Eco modes for lower TDP/energy consumption at basically the same performance. I don't know how motherboard BIOS updates are still so flaky after all these years, but I guess it's better than requiring a USB-to-TTL device and some terminal hacking to flash it like you do on many ARM SBCs!

March 7, 2024 - BIOS Flashback does the same thing - the light on the USB comes on, so it's read, but then nothing and the Flashback light stays lit indefinitely Once all this failed, I tried EZ Flash from within BIOS. I tried this from both the Flashback USB Port and another port.
