Asus Q-code 00 help
So my GPU died in early 2021 and due to the prices I wasn’t able to get a new one. I got a 3080 recently as the prices have cooled down. I also got a new cpu cooler(Noctua D15). My cpu is the i9-9900k and my mobo is ASUS MAXIMUS hero XI (wifi).
After I installed the GPU and cooler the pc booted with q-code 00. Later, it booted successfully for the first time in like over a year. Then it crashed again with the code 00. Now when I try to turn it on it will either boot successfully for like 10 minutes then shut down again, or just not POST at all. Also the fans don’t turn on when the error is there.
I did research and apparently it is either a dead cpu or a dead mobo, but I really don’t want to get a new cpu or mobo and I don’t have any spare parts. I reseated the ram and tried various configurations, so it isn’t the ram. I also reseated the cpu and cooler, to no avail. If anyone has any advice please let me know. Thanks!
I just finished connecting all the parts, click on the power button and nothing, code 00 stuck, i removed all ram sticks but 1, checked psu connectors, clicked on bios clear button. Nothing.

I've put together a PC with an Asus ROG Strix X670E-E, a Ryzen 7600X and two sticks of G.skill DDR5 memory. The rest of it - cooler, case, PSU, GPU, drives - came from my old PC. None of the drives currently have an OS on them.
When I boot, there's one faint beep, the fans all go to max RPM and I get no display output, not on the onboard, nor on the GPU out.
The Q code is 00, with no LEDs lit up.
Steps taken so far:
-
removed all peripherals except keyboard and display on onboard HDMI out
-
removed GPU
-
removed RAM, reseated sticks, swapped sticks, booted with each stick separately
-
cleared CMOS using the button on the back
Since there are no error LEDs I am assuming - hoping - that the CPU is good, but I'm not sure what else to test. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hello,
Just built a new PC and it wont POST, it stays stuck on asus code 00, monitor will never turn on.
All fans turns including AIO, GPU and CASE fans, so there seems to be power. The LED lights are all on including the case, gpu, mobo etc...
I tried :
clear CMOS (remove battery 10 sec)
reseat CPU and AIO
reseat GPU and RAM
remove 1 stick of ram (only using 1 instead of two)
unpluged all PSU connectors and replugged em making sure they are well seated.
My setup :
i9 14900kf
Artic Liquid Freezer III 360
Asus ROG Strix Z790-E Gaming
G.Skill 6400mhz 2 x 32gb (currently just 1 stick in A2 slot)
nVidia RTX 3070 (temporary backup I just sold the 4090 to get a 5090 next week)
Corsair HX1500i PSU
Monitor is plugged using DP cable in the 3070. I had the 3070 and the psu in my previous rig 2 hours ago and everything running fine.
Any ideas on what to try ? Only thing I didnt try yet is flashing the BIOs using USB but I have very low faith thats going to do anything, I will try it nonetheless.
Help!
Hello, For nearly a year I've been receiving error code "00" on my Asus motherboard. No POST happens a lot of times but after turning it off and on for a couple of times(Sometimes just leaving it off for a few hours and then turning it on again) it will again continue to work normally. During the time when "No POST" happens, I've tried removing RAM sticks and I received the same code.
I've also taken my computer twice to the repair shop. These people did the same thing I did. They checked with different RAM (Same Code-00), then they changed the PSU (Same Code-00). And then they say its a motherboard problem and they need to mess with ICs else my computer won't turn on. Another person said my motherboard is dead and I should buy a new mobo instead.
I usually just take the PC back because I know that if I leave it off for a few hours, it ends up working fine(Most of the time it turns on with just a few attempts).
May I know what should I do to fix the 00 error so my computer works fine always?
Things I have tried:
Resetting the BIOS. Works for a day and then it goes back to Code-00 and after 4-5 attempts of powering On and Off it works fine.
Leaving the system on for 10 or so minutes and then retrying (It works most of the time this way). Saw this on a youtube comment once since a lot of people seem to be getting this 00 error. The explanation which the user gave was that the processor needs a bit of warmth. (But again sometimes it doesn't work).
Clearing CMOS and Removing the Battery (This worked the first time I faced the 00 Error. It worked for a few months and when Error-00 appeared again, I tried this method but it didn't work)
Keep in mind, when my computer works it works perfectly. I even tried doing the stress test on CPU-Z and it worked fine. Could it be some major problem still?

Hello, so I purchased a $200 problematic computer on Craigslist in hopes of fixing it and I think the issue may be with the motherboard. Has anyone by any chance experienced the error code 00? My hardware specifications are as follows:
CPU: Intel Core i7 4770K Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Extreme Memory: Patriot 32GB PC-2400 GPU: Sapphire 7970GHz
From my research, this is not an uncommon error and many people have said that it's a CPU issue. However, I installed the CPU in my other desktop and it works fine. The memory works fine as well. There are no bent pins on the motherboard but could it be that the BIOS is corrupt? What's odd is that the seller said that the issues didn't start happening until he installed Windows 10 and he was somehow able to take screenshots of the hardware specs but after I've taken possession of the computer, I can't even get it to boot. The 00 error appears right away.
If anyone has any pointers on what to check, it would be greatly appreciated.

Also, if you have any non-Keyboard/Mice USB devices plugged into the computer when it boots, remove those.
In your specific case, could be a compatibility issue between Windows 10, and your motherboard/BIOS.
But for reference, I had the same error code. Different CPU, different ASUS motherboard. Computer randomly shut off earlier this month (just short of 3 weeks of owning it), and got stuck in a boot loop with Q-code 00, would instantly restart itself before showing anything on the monitor, so not really much I could do.
Looked into the issue with the specific motherboard, and from the very small trace of people that have had the exact same motherboard have all come to the same conclusion; the motherboard fried the CPU.
So, in your case, I think your best bet is to either try to fresh install Windows 7 on your OS drive, and see if the issue persists. If it doesn't, looks like you're likely staying on 7. If it still happens, I'd consider getting a new motherboard.
Hello,
Suddenly after no problems since I build it last March (2023) my PC gave me 00 q-code this morning, I tried to power cycle twice with no luck, I removed power cord 2 min, then rebooted with clear bios bouton pressed. It finally booted with my bios settings still here...
Rebooted twice with no issues since.
Never had crash or bsod since april (2023) when I put those settings (at the end of the post).
Could it be coming from another software that accesses bios like signalrgb or fancontrol? I checked install log and with windows updates those are the only ones that have been recently updated.
Or is it the CPU or MOBO dying?
I am still on bios 1303 since I had no issue with it since it include the 1.35v soc voltage fix (mine is at 1.3v anyway)
Does someone got an idea of what happened?
Thanks.

My motherboard shuts down and it displays 00 for like a split second and then changes to more codes
This is my first time building a pc. My ASUS motherboard (ROG Strix Z490-E) has a q-code reading “00” which is described at “not used” in the user guide. The computer will not boot up.
I do not know what caused this. What should I do?
Edit: bent pins in the cpu socket. Any advice?
Final update: replaced the motherboard and it works! Luckily my local Best Buy had the exact same motherboard so I didn’t have to alter my build
Hey, all -- would appreciate any thoughts on this. Been using the same machine I built in college for about a decade now, with a GPU midlife upgrade but otherwise without any big changes or problems. While web-browsing two days ago, suddenly it wouldn't connect to USB and then seconds later unexpectedly powered off. Upon trying to restart, my Asus motherboard starting flashing a 00 code. Briefly, the monitors continued to work, but now they won't connect, either.
I did some googling and already tried clearing the CMOS by pulling out the battery, to no effect. Also tried getting into the bios by pressing the function keys (and delete) while restarting, and that hasn't worked. I can't figure how to get into the BIOS at all, and without the monitors working, I'm at a loss. I'm hoping there's something dumb I'm missing! Would be grateful for any help.
Here's a quick link of the internals -- my cable management is not great but looks worse than usual in this... https://imgur.com/a/9YE5NMS
I built a new PC with new parts except old SSD and GPU. It was working fine for 2 days after I built, then I decided to install asus armory crate to edit the rgb lights on the motherboard. After I installed it asked me if I wanted to auto optimize the cpu settings. I clicked yes and it finished. PC was working fine, so I left it on to go shower. Came back and saw a black screen and nothing was responding and my keyboard and mouse rgb weren't on anymore. Turned off/on and saw only code 00 on motherboard.
I've gotten replacement motherboard and psu already and tried removing everything except just the aio, cpu, and ram. Still doesn't get pass 00.
Is it the cpu that is fried? The sockets on the cpu doesn't look burnt.
***UPDATE***
So after flashing to BIOS 805 I stopped getting code 00 and started getting code 0d with red light signifying CPU issue. Given how rare CPU failures are by comparison to CPU failures I RMA'd the motherboard and ordered a new one.
Upon getting the new one I flashed to 805 and then installed all components except the GPU. I ultimately got error 0d with red light on CPU. I flashed back to the original BIOS and got the same error code. I'm finding it really hard to believe that the CPU is the problem but I'd like to get other people's thoughts on this.
====ORIGINAL POST====
So I just bought an ASUS ROG STRIX x670e-e gaming mobo and an 7950X. I built the system and turned it on. Not surprisingly my boot drive from my previous Intel build wasn't recognized so I used a USB to flash a new install of Windows 10 (I tried Windows 11 first but it said the computer lacked the hardware specs necessary for Windows 11 install). For some reason the wifi module was not working so I finished the install, restarted the computer (still not working), so I hit F2 to go into the BIOS. While searching for the module in BIOS all of the sudden my PC shuts off on it's own.
When I restart the computer I get 00 as the code. Yikes. I can't clear it and I'm looking for help after trying several things to fix this.
Things I've tried to fix this:
-
Unplug all power cables and reseat them.
-
The PSU has 3 CPU power outputs. I tried powering the two CPU Power inputs using all combinations of the 3 CPU power outputs.
-
Try 1 stick of RAM in A2 instead of a stick in A2 and B2. (tried both sticks as the A2 single module)
-
Take off the cooler and inspect the CPU socket for bent pins (I don't see any and no damage to the CPU itself.
-
Tried BIOS versions 922, 805 and default BIOS.
-
Removing the GPU and booting.
-
Tried a new version of the same motherboard
Things I cannot try:
-
Try another CPU. This is the only AM5 CPU I have.
Components installed on the MOBO:
-
Ryzen 7950X with DeepCool CPU cooler
-
ASUS TUF RTX 4090
-
G.SKILL DDR5 TRIDENT Z5 6000 2x32GB (slotted in A2 & B2)
-
Samsung 970 EVO 512GB in M.2 Slot 1
-
GAMEMAX ATX3.0 PSU 1300W
The only component that isn't brand new is the Samsung 970 EVO. That came from a previous build.
Given that the system booted several times without an issue the only thing I could think is an issue was that while I was in the BIOS it got corrupted. Given that the FLBK didn't solve the problem I'm not sure what it could be. It's hard to imagine the CPU, MOBO or PSU just suddenly going bad after working fine the first hour plus that I was trying to work through the initial boot sequences and then windows install. Interested in what else I should try.
I just got back home from a a weekend trip, and when I walked in to my home office, my computer’s fans were running at full blast and the mother board was reading code 00. I did some googling: turned it on and off again (while unplugging it from the wall). Tried a cmos rest, and re-sat all the power cables and hardware in the board. This is my only AM5 computer so I don’t have spare parts lying around I can try.
For the past couple months I’ve also been getting random “kernal power events” that would cause a hard reboot, and some “failed tpm events” that seemed mostly benign. However i uninstalled a bunch of software last week and that seemed to have fix the kernal power issue at least.
My question is: what do I need to fix? Is the mobo dead? cpu? Power supply? I’d prefer not to spend any unnecessary if possible since this computer was so expensive to build. Oh, and all the parts hit their 3 year warranty in the last month 🙃

I went to the store to get an m.2 drive today...and when I went to turn on my computer...it didn't post...no image ot anything. (Was working perfectly fine earlier) and the powerbutton turns on the system...but doesn't turn it off. I have taken the drive out and still getting the issue. Any ideas?

what does the q code mean? it should say in your mobo manual. You could drop the name and model of the mobo and we can look it up too.
Quick google search - https://appuals.com/error-q-code-00-on-asus-motherboard/#:~:text=Some%20PC%20users%20using%20an,to%20boot%20up%20their%20computer.&text=To%20fix%20this%20problem%2C%20you,power%20capacitors%20of%20your%20motherboard.
Says to clear CMOS.
Seems like 00 could mean a lot of different things. Check your power connections first. Like CPU/GPU mobo.
