Asus Zenbook OLED UM5302TA 1 year review. Buyers remorese
ASUS quality keeps going down. I’ve grown increasingly disappointed by their laptop quality and their (high-end even) motherboards. Nothing but issues with all of their shit. More on reddit.com

Review of ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED
Owner of Core 9/32gigs here. This machine is really good and can get almost 5 hrs on battery when doong productivity work. She might be able to squeeze 6hrs from the 75Wh battery, depends on the system settings and usage. Laptop is super light, portable and charges quickly. Would buy it for 100% again. The Core 5 should be easily sufficient for marketing tasks, wouldnt be worried about that. More on reddit.com

Asus Zenbook, any good?
It depends, given that it's ARM. Go to windowsonarm.org and make sure all the software you need is supported. If you don't game (I assume you don't do it on laptop since you have a Macbook), then it should be fine, but do your research. Assuming things are all good compatibility-wise, my opinion as someone who bought the Vivobook S15 with one of those chips, it's been great. Genuinely the first time I find a Windows laptop enjoyable to use. It's snappy, very responsive, haven't seen it stutter after two months, haven't seen an application stop responding which I'd see often on past laptops. I also have not felt this thing heat up (except when I left it playing a video with a bunch of stuff opened, while sitting on my bed for a while), and it's just dead silent. The fans almost never have to work hard enough to be audible. The OLED is gorgeous. I still just stare at my wallpaper for a while sometimes. Very bright, the colors look great. The only issue us that it's very reflective. Can't be sitting with a window behind you. The battery lasts a while. I have brightness at max, it's a big screen, and it lasts an easy 8+ hours, if I take it easy on it, it can last 12 or so. That's pretty crazy for a Windows laptop. Charges very fast. A smaller screen like that one could easily last more. Basically, first time I own a laptop where I can forget the charger at home and go "eh, whatever" and know it will last me the day no biggie. The copilot stuff is gimmicky, I haven't used most of those features. There are useful ones, live captions with translation are a really fantastic feature, opens up a whole new world of watching content in other languages. The rest of it is meh, maybe they'll implement some more useful stuff later on. There is Recall (you ask it about something you saw on your screen some time ago that you forgot, just describe it and it'll pull it up), but constantly monitors your screen to do so, no thank you. If it fits your use case, software wise, they're pretty damn great. If not, don't. One more thing is, I'm assuming you want to swap to Windows. If you're in the Apple ecosystem, I would just buy another Macbook. The truth is, if you can afford a Macbook Air, the M4 chip completely smokes all the competition and it isn't close. Like, it feels crazy to say about an Apple product, but they're actually great value. You can even go for an older M2 and it will still be better than every windows offering at that price range. With that being said, it's especially good if you need that kind of power, they excel at stuff like video/image editing, but if you're just gonna use it for light office-type work, and watching content, it's extremely overkill, but it's pretty future proof, the M1 is like 5 years old and still great. I would have gone for that, but I needed Windows, I'd say unfortunately but it's been pretty great, so eh. More on reddit.com

r/ASUS on Reddit: Asus Zenbook OLED UM5302TA 1 year review. Buyers remorese
January 13, 2024 -

A few years ago I sold my 2014 Macbook workhorse and built a gaming PC from scratch. It was super easy, and I loved the end product. To this day I still use it and love using windows 10. I was genuinely very happy with switching over to using a PC and wondered why I didn't do it years earlier.

After a year I realized I needed a laptop for work, and from my coworkers experience I had been told that Asus products are quiality. I did some research online and found quite good reviews for the Zenbook OLED. It had a small form factor, beautiful screen, and supposedly amazing battery life. I also loved that it had a touch screen. I decided to pull the trigger and buy one.

I recieved it and upon getting it i realized I had purchased one without a touch screen which was quite annoying but obviously my fault. I think in some parts of the world the touch screen is the only one available, and for some reason where I live you actually can't order this particular one. Either way.

Some of the GOOD things:

It's SO LIGHT. I love how easy it is to carry around, it honesly feels like I'm carrying an iPad.

The storage space of 1TB is fantastic, and the 16gb of ram and processor handle pretty much whatever I throw at it. I've never had any performance issues with the computer at all, I can even run BeamNG at a decent framerate. A similarly spec'd Macbook Air costs more than 600 euros more where I am.

The Screen is beautiful. Watching videos on this screen really makes such a huge difference, when I show my friends drone video projects or DSLR videos I've shot they're always shocked by how nice the quality is.

While the keyboard doesn't look particularly nice, the feedback from the keys, and typing on it feels really nice.

So this is where the good parts end. Now time for all the annoying BAD things. There are a LOT

The speakers. There is a "Sound by Harmon/Kardon" logo just below the arrow keys. Is this a bad joke? The speakers are HOOOOOOORRIBLE. Weak, crackly, ZERO BASS. My phone has better and more quality speakers than these. Words cannot describe how bad these speakers sound. When I listened to them at first I really thought I had some problem with them. Even after messing around with the sound settings they still sound like crap.

Oh, and one of them is completely blown as of last month.

The battery. Trash. I read that you can easily get 10-12 hours out of this. Bullshit. Maybe 4 -5 hours at best. That's not even doing video editing/gaming or anything. This is just browsing reddit or doing online shopping.

Another thing, my battery drains all the time when my computer is closed. I know this problem exists in quite a lot of other PC's but often times it will be very hot when I take it out of my bag.

Occasionally when I take my computer off the charger it won't even turn on and I have to hard reset it.

The webcam, I don't know how they made it this badly. It's such bad quality that windows hello doesn't work on it. The front facing camera on my Galaxy S3 was better.

I'm not sure if all Asus laptops have this, but who's idea was it to fill the F-keys with useless things rather than music controls? Why on earth would I need a dedicated button for Projection/Disable touchpad/Asus support?! These easily could have been in the settings panel.

The body of the laptop is really prone to the paint chipping. Mine is dark blue and there are hundrds of little paint chips falling off all over the place. I hardly ever take my computer out with me and if I do it's in the case that came with my Zenbook.

The trackpad works like shit or not at all frequently. Clicking and dragging is super glitchy and for some reason if it's cold then It doesn't work at all.

I really wish I just returned this and got a Macbook with less storage space for the same money. I'm deeply disappointed in this laptop and I really want to warn any other that are considering this to stay away. This thing is shockingly bad and If anyone has any idea what combination of words I can use to just get my money back i'd be forever grateful.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

Hey guys, I was planning to get the ASUS zenbook 14 Oled laptop for my girlfriend. She is majorly looking for a laptop with good battery life and display. Her use case would be productivity tasks majorly. She works in the field of marketing, so as far as I know, there aren’t any heavy softwares she would be using. If anyone has this laptop, could you please share a short review of the same? Based on the specs, it looks all good, but I’m worried about the “P” processor. Your views would be very helpful. Thank you

Here’s the link of the laptop:

I have a Macbook I bought in 2021. It's not dead yet but it's getting that display issue that displays with the Mac touchbar end up getting.

Best buy has Asus Zenbooks for 1,000. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/asus-zenbook-a14-14-fhd-oled-laptop-copilot-pc-qualcomm-snapdragon-x-plus-16gb-ram-512gb-ssd-zabriskie-beige/6615728.p?skuId=6615728

Is this any good or is it crap?
