I'm not sure square foot is a very useful metric. I have a tiny bathroom, only like 45 sq feet, and a full gut and redo cost about $25k. So that's like $500/sq ft. Some of the included costs were weird/one-off - structural improvement to my second story's floor, exterior door to upper deck, a bunch of drywall repair due to damage/access outside of the bathroom itself but caused by the project, sprayed closed cell insulation, etc. However, adding more square feet wouldn't add that much cost relatively. It's just some floor tile and drywall after all. Answer from caleeky on reddit.com

r/HomeImprovement on Reddit: How much did your bathroom gut out remodel cost per square foot?
November 9, 2020 -
I am in the middle of a remodel on my one and only small bathroom. The project is a complete gut, and a new stack, lots of electrical ect.
As it sits im at $210/sqft with contractor labor included
I went pretty high end on all the fixtures and finishes ( kohler purist, porcelain tile), which drove the cost up, contractors/ labor /consumables has come in at about 40% of the budget.
I'm curious to hear what $/sqft other users bathrooms were.

I have a very large master bath plus two walk in closets with cathedral ceilings. Not a full gut but a lot of work needed. All in was 37k. Higher end materials and a unique tile pattern were probably biggest variable cost. Went with a middle tier contractor. Higher touch contractors wanted around 60k to do the job. Taken longer than expected due to COVID - ie had to re-order tub and it added another 1.5 months to full project completion. Vanity took 8 weeks from order to delivery.

How much labor cost to remodel 95 sqft bathroom?
Fixture/vanity replacement should be less than 2k for labor but your material costs might run higher. For tub / shower + toilet that’s around 4-6k labor costs depending on the simplicity /complexity if not relocating anything. Tile labor costs around 1.5k for flooring (removing the floor and adding new floor depends on the type of flooring material could be more (vinyl vs tile, vs marble ) material should be cheaper since it’s only 95 sqft so around $3-5 unless you getting some high end materials Altogether should be 6-9.5k for labor costs without including material per 95 sqft (which is a pretty good size bathroom since most are 40-70 sqft. ) So for both bathrooms 15-18k lower end but timeline might be longer. Also I imagine if you have an affluent home they might high ball you some figures. So I would shop around for at least 7 bids. Source: Landlord More on reddit.com
Bathroom Remodel Cost
I just redid my hall bathroom over the summer. 7x7' space, not moving any plumbing or electricity. Full gut from top to bottom. Quotes from five different contractors rangers from $30k to $47k. We went with DreamMakers and highly do not recommend, they screwed so many things up. More on reddit.com

May 8, 2025 - Replacing outdated tile or brass fixtures with modern finishes like brushed nickel or matte black elevates the entire room’s feel, even if the footprint doesn’t change. Installing low-flow toilets, LED lighting, and water-saving showerheads not only reduces monthly bills but can be a strong selling point for eco-conscious buyers. A $7,500 remodel in a 5×8 bathroom that added a modern vanity, walk-in shower, and energy-efficient lighting could increase the home’s asking price by $10,000+ in competitive markets.
