I'm considering using audiophile headphones, possibly with a DAC and amp, for PC gaming (mainly first person shooters but not only) using an LG C1 as display.
Does anyone have experience with this? How was it? Any advice?

Wondering whats recommended for a good pair of headphones for listening to music and play FPS. I'm stuck between AR5000, HD490 pro and have mixed feelings about the DT1990 MK2. Thinking of pairing with a schiit gunnr for easy Mic control. Currently using razer black shark V2 pro wireless which are fine but id like to try open back with increased sound stage.i live in the UK and Budget with a dac is around £700. Priory is hearing crispy footsteps while playing fps and i enjoy a wide range of music with a lively bassy sound. Don't have ability to sample any which is a bummer
Requirements:
> Dont care if its Open-back or Closed-back, wired or wireless
> Pinpoint accuracy and good/loud volume of footsteps while the gunshots not overshadowing footsteps and faraway steps/ happening
> Dont need overpowering gunshots strictly
> Dont need/ care about mic - I have standalone EPOS B20 mic where I will plug my headset for the time being (if they are 3.5mm wired, amp/dac in future for sure)
> Dont care if gaming headset or audiophile, I would prefer Audiophile headset
> Budget - Around $300 USD
Headsets I have used ranking from Best to worse (for me) in ascending order:
> Corsair hs50 (with loudness equilization)
> EPOS GSP500 (with EPOS B20 mic as an amp/dac as my motherboard b550 was very low volume for it)
> Hyperx Cloud Alpha S (with the surround sound card plugged)
> EPOS H3
> Hyperx Cloud Stinger Core PS4 (the $20 one) (with loudness equilization)
> Alienware AW920H (mixed feelings about this one, only using because wireless)
> Blackshark v2 pro wireless
> Moondrop Chu
> Sony XB910N
> Coolermaster MH650 (worst headset ever btw personal opinion)
I will buy a good $200-300 amp/ dac in future for my PC 'if needed'
For the time being, 3.5mm will be plugged to my EPOS B20 mic's own amp/dac
I search since 2-3 months but im still so confused
So my budget is 200, at least 250 dollar, i need a closed back because my house and my street is loud, sadly i can't use open back, i heared open backs are better for gaming
I don't want to buy an amp/dac combo because my room is small and i have enough cables already but if i really really need for getting out of the most of the headphone and you can recommend me a budget one i say f@ck i will buy it,
(I have a cheap amp/dac combo but it's really cheap) i usually connect my gaming headset to the controller but my tv have a 3.5mm jack if it's better
I saw i can use 80ohm with my controller and with my phone, tablet etc, i don't know my ipad (7th gen) is enough, i want to use the headphone for 99,9% for gaming maybe rarely a few times a year for my ipad watching youtube (not for music)
I saw this headphone, a tons of people recommended is the beyerdynamic dt 770 pro 80 ohm
Sorry for the long post but im new in the "audiophile" or studio headphone world, never have a better quality headphones, i only used gaming headsets, many people said these headphones worth it over the gaming headsets because the price-performance
I mainly play FPS games like Hunt Showdown, Tarkov, Valorant, and R6. Looking for a good pair of headphones preferably under $300, but willing to go over.
I currently have a pair of HD 58X but have trouble with distinguishing footsteps, especially when it comes to vertical imaging. It's hard to tell whether a player is above or below me at times.
Ill start this off with, i just bought some razer blackshark v2x’s and i wasnt really expecting much at all, in fact theyre honestly pretty good. I just wonder if theres way better sound for going up a bit in price. they could also be a good bit more comfortable.
Anyways im looking at some more like “audiophile” headphones that i could use a mod mic with or something. Ive seen the shp9500s are really good, but they seem a little old so im wondering if theyre still good? I can get them for $80 on amazon and the vmoda boom mic (i know, its just cheap and sounds okay) for $20 on amazon, so $100 total. Are they worth that still? Is there better i can get for about $100? Im not specifically looking for open back, ive only used closed back in the past. Im not in a particularly loud place so i dont think open back is a bad idea for me though.
Comfort wise i seem to like cloth earcups better, they just feel a bit comfier to me. I dont have a super big head but not a small head, i wouldnt say i have like big ears either, just regular lol. So i dont need anything special for that.
Anything else i should checkout? Any help is appreciated
