Hello! I have been struggling to find a decent well priced bed in a box. Preferably it would be available through amazon, but if not that's alright too! I am 5'3", around 230 pounds, sleep 75% of the time on my stomach and 25% on my side, I prefer more firm mattresses, and I tend to sleep a bit warm. What suggestions do you have for affordable bed in a box's that would work best for me? Thank you!

Edit: I have decided to go with the Helix Twilight Luxe. I'll update what I think about it after I get it.

Update: I've been using the Helix Twilight Luxe for about a month now, and I am really liking it so far! The reviews that I saw about it not having great edge support when sitting on the edge of the mattress are true, but it isn't that terrible and also wasn't really a priority for me. It is very firm and perfect for sleeping on my stomach and not causing soreness when sleeping on my sides. There was no chemical smell or anything when unpacking it, and while the box said it would be completely decompressed within 2 hours, I waited about 2 days before using it, and it was perfect. Overall, this mattress is much better than my last one was, and I would recommend it if you don't plan to sit on the edges too much and aren't able to go to a mattress store in person.

I’m a veterinary student, AKA, I ain’t got no money. I’m thinking about getting a box bed so I don’t have to worry about delivering a mattress to my gated apartment complex

I ONLY sleep on my side and I also am a touch overweight. I don’t mind firmer mattresses, I can sleep pretty easy on futon or a dorm cot.

Ideally I’d like to not spend more than 700, which I know greatly reduces my options

Thanks for any help!

Hello, I’m in the trenches of mattress shopping and every time I think I have something picked out I get thrown off by new information. I’m looking for something I can buy from Amazon and have delivered within the week, no more than $700. I am leaning more foam but not completely against a hybrid. My main concerns have to do with fiberglass, as even the ones I’ve seen advertised as fiberglass free have reviews showing otherwise. I also would like something that is from a reputable company and has at least 100 night trial with history of good customer service/no hassle to return as I have had to deal with that in the past.

I’m 5’7”, 225 lbs, side/back tosser/turner and have rheumatoid arthritis/chronic pain and back issues. I’d prefer something in the medium range that provides decent support and won’t suck me in but still soft and comfy. Am I looking for a unicorn here?

I’m on an air mattress at the moment and pretty miserable so I know beggars can’t be choosers, but I also know how important good sleep is and have experience making the wrong mattress purchase decision in the past, so I want to be sure I’m fully informed. TIA!

I got one of those Casper mattresses in a box from Costco. I chose to go this route because I knew several people who got memory foam beds in a box from Amazon, and hated them. But because of the shitty return policies (must be returned in original packaging- IMPOSSIBLE!) they were stuck with them.

Looking for a new mattress and I don’t like the heavy legacy mattresses as they are expensive and also don’t want to deal with delivery etc. I like the box type. My partner always sweats at night so something that’ll cool him down would be great, I am a back or side sleeper. Please no unboxing chemical odor, I can never get rid of them

If you’re looking for no odor, Greenguard Gold certified is going to be your best bet, but we just brought in Leesa (made by 3Z who also makes Helix and the beds share components) and there is a slight odor to them so I’d imagine Helix is the same. I’m VERY sensitive to smells and it’s not overly noticeable, but it is there right out of the box. Everything we’ve gotten from Diamond Mattress is also Greenguard and has had less/no odor compared to Leesa/Helix, but their higher end stuff doesn’t ship compressed. The Leesa Sapira Chill firm feels like a nice hotel bed to me (it’s also on the medium side of firm), so does the Winkbed Lux Firm (wink isn’t Greenguard gold, but didn’t notice much/any smell on unboxing). Nothing that comes in a box is going to cool you down, invest in good sheets and maybe a Bedjet/8Sleep cover if you want to be cooled. Most beds (even the ones that say cooling) are just trying for temperature neutral.

In terms of cooling: Springs and natural fibers will be the coolest, but most people don't like to sleep on a mattress that is almost entirely springs. If you do, I have the Engineered Sleep Classic Hybrid in Simple Firm, which I use as a a base for toppers. Otherwise, a spring-and-foam hybrid will be cooler. A foam which you sink into less will feel cooler than a soft foam you sink into more. Latex feels more temperature neutral to me than other foams because of the "on top" feel but it also does not work for me as a top layer because of the pushback feel. Many people find a thin wool topper helps disperse heat. Using thinner breathable natural fibers for bedding also helps. But really nothing "cooling" actually cools throughout the night. Stuff that feels cool to the touch falling asleep will not actually stay that way. What you want is materials that will be closer to temperature neutral, hence the use of natural and breathable materials. If your partner sweats a lot, a fan might be the best option. In terms of odor, pretty much all polyfoams will smell at least a little on unboxing due to the use of solvents during manufacturing. And usually box mattresses get boxed up pretty quick after manufacturing. I've been able to get rid of them by airing them for 24 hours in a room with a fan and open window before using. Latex also smells, but to me it's light and pleasant, and is very low on VOCs.

I put off getting a new mattress for fourteen years because they’re so expensive in stores. I finally bought one on Amazon after my mom had ordered on Walmart’s website.

I was very apprehensive because we couldn’t try it but I read hundreds of reviews.

It was super cheap. Less than $200 for a queen. This was five years ago.

It’s the best mattress I’ve ever had.

Getting it in the mail is much better than getting it delivered by the store.

I'm finally making the big move from Chicago to LA next month and I'm trying to figure out the whole mattress situation.

I've been sleeping on the same hand-me-down mattress for like 6 years now and it's basically a taco at this point (the middle is super sunken it difficult to get out in the morning). I'm NOT bringing this torture device with me to California.

I'm looking for the best mattress in a box that won't completely destroy my moving budget. My new place is a second-floor apartment with narrow stairs, so something that comes compressed seems ideal. Plus I'll be dead tired after the move and just want to flop onto something comfortable without dealing with traditional mattress delivery windows.

I've been down the review rabbit hole for DAYS and my brain is fried from all the marketing buzzwords... like can we just talk about actual comfort and not make it sound like I'm sleeping on a NASA experiment?

Anyone have personal experience with mattress in a box brands that are actually good? I'm a side sleeper who runs hot, so something with decent edge support that doesn't sleeps hot would be ideal. Budget is around $800 for a queen.

Can't wait to join you all in the land of perfect weather and terrible traffic next month!

I am in the market for a higher end soft mattress but not really sure where to go for shopping. My budget is close to $1,000+ and I’m trying to figure out if it is worth it to shop directly on Amazon?

Amazon makes it so easy to find mattresses but I am worried about not being able to test it out before I purchase.

What would you suggest? Are there great sites that you trust for high quality (soft) mattresses to go with? Open to suggestions here

I don’t want to have to go through the process of picking out a new bed for at least 5 years or longer (any and all help is appreciated)

I have to get a bed in a box because my house is 120+ years old and the clearing on the stairs is lower than current code. We cannot get a mattress up/down without it bending which I know is not good.

I need firm-ish, anything too soft hurts my back, especially now that I am pregnant. But I’m not looking for a rock. My husband doesn’t like too much of a memory foam feel, at least on the top.

Am I looking for a unicorn? Any recommendations would be great and much appreciated!

Logan and Cove, Silk and Snow, Hamuq, Endy, Douglas, Dreamcloud, Polysleep...I'm in analysis paralysis on which Canadian brand mattress to get! Back sleeper with lower back pain, wife is a combo side/back sleeper. I'm leaning towards a hybrid though open to try anything. I know it's relatively risk-free to try most these days, but I don't want the hassle so would rather start with something I'd "likely stick with". So...spend my $ for me!
Note: sites like sleeplikethedead are not aimed at the Canadian market so not much help there.

Hi, there. Brook here from GoodMorning.com (parent company of Logan & Cove and Douglas). There are many options to choose from, making it challenging to decide. What has you leaning toward a hybrid mattress? Do you prefer an "on the mattress" feel, or are you looking for consistent support? Hybrid mattresses are made with coils and foam to provide consistent comfort and support. Some offer zoned support so sleepers can get additional support in the lumbar region. Since sleepers sink less into these mattresses, less of their body is in contact with the foams in the comfort layer, which helps individuals sleep cooler. If you're looking for a firm mattress, I recommend the Logan & Cove Luxury Firm, Hamuq or Haven. If you're looking for a medium-firm firmness, I recommend the Logan & Cove Medium Plush or Silk & Snow Hybrid. If you're looking for medium-soft, Dreamcloud would fit into that category. All-foam mattresses can offer better motion isolation than hybrid mattresses, along with more of a "hug" sensation and pressure-point relief. I hope this helps!

I've tried the Silk and Snow original, Casper Original and Douglas and as a side sleeper of 150 lbs, the Silk and Snow was a bit too soft, the Casper a bit too firm and the Douglas a bit too firm for my liking. Endy and Polysleep I think are similar in firmness to Douglas bit maybe a bit softer. Silk and Snow hybrid is a medium firmness with a softer layer on top. I also was just looking at Hush mattresses which look interesting. If I were to buy another mattress I would probably get a Silk and Snow hybrid or Polysleep or Hush Iced Hybrid. Hamuq also looks good for the price. Logan and Cove is more money. I generally like mattresses that aren't hybrid but if you weight more than 150 lbs, hybrids can be better for support. You can try Silk and Snow at EQ3 stores and Endy at Urban Barn stores. I'm not sure about the other brands. I was really wanting to try polysleep somewhere.

Hi, I’m moving to a studio apartment and was wondering what your experience has been with mattresses in a box and what seems to be the best value for your dollar.

I was looking into sales at BJs and Costco, but found that there are mattresses on Amazon that are cheaper. My budget is max $300 for a full size, but I’d be open to a queen. Any recommendations would be much appreciated! TIA.

a few years ago, there were soooo many mattress in a box brands it became the very problem they were hoping to solve (too many choice in a mattress store, overwhelmed clients... so it became too many box brands, just as overwhelmed clients).

Now the dust has settled a bit, is there a brand that stood out of the lot as higher quality instead of quickly obsolete gadget that doesnt stand the test of time?

thanks a lot

edit: I actually ended up going with the Boring Hybrid https://www.boring.co/products/hybrid-mattress. I haven't had the time to make a proper review yet or dont know if I will ever do it. All I can say is that the mattress is simple but really comfortable for me.

Hello

After 7 years of sleeping on what I lovingly call ""the pit of despair"" (a hand-me-down that's basically a hammock at this point), I've finally saved up enough for a new mattress.

I've got about $1000 to spend for a queen, which seemed like plenty until I walked into a mattress store. The salesman kept pushing me toward mattresses that were WAY above my budget, claiming anything under $1500 would ""compromise my sleep health"" (eye roll).

When I insisted on staying under $1000, he showed me a few options that honestly felt like I was lying on a bag of potatoes. Then tried to upsell me on some cooling technology that supposedly uses ""cooling gel"" or something equally ridiculous. Like, what does that even MEAN??

I'm looking for the best mattress under 1000 that will actually last. I'm a side sleeper and weigh around 170lbs. I don't need bells and whistles – just something with decent support.

Has anyone found a quality mattress in this price range? Are online mattress companies worth considering? I was checking out Boring. I'm open to foam, hybrid, whatever - as long as it's comfortable

SO and I are in the market for a new bed and I’ve been shopping around and amazon has some really good prices. Like 350 for a king mattress and 250 for a stand and headboard. The ratings are good but I know so many companies pay for ratings it still gives me pause.

Out old bed isn’t terrible. The mattress is about 9 years old but it is a bit small for two people and the dog which inevitably sneaks from His bed to our by the morning. So we don’t 100 % need a king but if it’s only a couple 100 bucks Im willing to make the investment.

Ive been looking around Craig’ list (not for the mattress that would have to be new) but nothing has jumped out.

Any suggestions?
