If you're going to switch, what games do you play, and what is your budget? This site has options from best buy. http://gaminglaptop.deals I would get the best GPU followed by the best CPU you can get within your budget. Personally I'd look at a laptop with a 4080 GPU.  It's significantly better than a 4070/4060/4050. Lenovo historically has good builds.  I have an MSI that's high end with a 4080 and it's been good to me so far. You can skimp on SSD and RAM as long as your RAM isn't soldered you can always upgrade those. Youtube a video of upgrading those on the model you are thinking about buying. Hope this helps. r/GamingLaptops on Reddit: What’s a good gaming laptop to buy from Best Buy?
January 17, 2025 -

I’m not knowledgeable in laptops. I’d always been a Mac girly and ended up buying a pc laptop a few years ago. The Best Buy employee was raving about an Asus ROG Zephyrus M16. I wanted to take a laptop home that day so I unfortunately didn’t do any research on it.

A few months after I bought it, the keyboard stopped working. I did what the internet recommended and it worked for a few times then stopped again. Basically hasn’t worked since then. I didn’t have warranty so I said fuck it and have been using a mouse and keyboard since then but now the battery is starting to go. The max charge it gets when charging is 80% so I think it’s time to switch to something else.

Pleaaase help.

r/GamingLaptops on Reddit: These are the most affordable gaming laptops I was able to find, are these a good deal?
October 18, 2024 -

So, after researching for a few hours I found these two laptops on sale in my closest best buy, and I wanted to know if these are good deals, or too good to be true. I have a very limited budget and I was looking for an affordable laptop that isn't too expensive and that has a graphics card.

The maximum amount of money I'm considering to spend is 700 dollars, but I would strongly prefer a laptop for a bit less. If the laptop is reeeally good for 700 dollars then of course, it would be just fine.

Are open box versions of these laptops worth the cheaper price?

Any suggestions are very much appreciated :)

Hey everyone! I’m looking to buy a laptop that I’ll use mainly for programming, university work, and some gaming. So far, I’ve been considering options like the Lenovo LOQ.

From what I’ve gathered, I should be aiming for at least 16GB DDR5 RAM, SSD storage, and a 144Hz display. For the GPU, I’m looking at something like the RTX 4050 or better.

I don’t game heavily, and when I do, it’s usually on less demanding titles—but I’d still like the option to play more intensive games like The Witcher or God of War if I ever feel like it.

Are there any important specs I might be overlooking? Any good value recommendations around this performance tier would be appreciated!

October 9, 2024 - I mean i get why they only have the $1000 or less budget models on display because the non-tech nerd or more casual gamer is going to want something cheaper because PC gaming can get expensive real quick whether its a laptop or desktop. Its also why Micro Center would have like the fully decked out laptops on display because that store caters to the tech nerd/enthusiast crowd far more compared to BB. More replies ... Hi! I want to premise this by saying, I know nothing about graphics cards and hardware and stuff. I am a total tech noob, but I would love to be able to play games like the sims 4, infinity nikki, best case scenario even a game like "where the winds meet" and i would like to know what is the best and cheepest option. My highest gaming priority is probably just to be able to play infinity nikki on a decent graphics settings for it to look pretty and dont lag at the same time.

Edit: I should probably add that I am european.

r/SuggestALaptop on Reddit: Best gaming/art laptop from Best Buy or Wal-Mart?
November 13, 2023 -

I have a friend and business partner who is looking to buy a laptop in-store this weekend, probably from either Best Buy or Wal-Mart. There is also a Target adjacent to the Best Buy he is going to, if that might help. I know these stores have set models they sell, so I figured I would narrow it down to models sold by one of the two(or three if Target has a price competitive option). This friend is an artist, but is just getting into digital work. He likely needs something that can do some image processing work in the future, but definitely wants a gaming laptop. He's really wanting to be able to play some current-gen games, maybe a AAA title or two.

His budget is $1000, so that might put him more in the "budget" range. A friend recommended this one, which they have on open box for less than 1k: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sku/6535496.p?skuId=6535496

Thoughts on this one compared to other sub-$1k options as well I suppose?

What would you recommend that he can pick up this weekend at one of those stores? Thank you in advance for any recommendations, and definitely open to general advice for buying from one of those locations.

r/SuggestALaptop on Reddit: Cheap Gaming Laptop $300 and under - USA
March 18, 2025 -

Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: -Max $300 US dollars

Are you open to refurbs/used? -Yes

How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? -I don’t care as much about picture quality clarity, but want it to be able to run Steam games. I love playing horror games like Little Nightmares and Five Nights At Freddie’s and Resident Evil 4 and want the opportunity to tr more Indie horror games that are not on the Switch and PlayStation.

How important is weight and thinness to you? -I don’t care either way about weight and thinness.

Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. -Bigger is better, if possible, maybe 14 inches would be good, if feasible.

Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. -I will be running Steam and playing random Indie games and horror games like Broken Veil, One Way Home, Reanimal, Little Nightmares 3, and Out of Sight. Preferably a laptop that I can hook up a controller to, like a Play Station controller would be nice.

If you're gaming, do you have certain games you want to play? -I listed some games above, and don’t mind picture quality too much, as long as it runs smoothly (no lagging, if possible) and doesn’t look super pixely.

Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? -Not really.

Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. -I was looking into HP 14 Premium HD Portable Laptop Computer Students Business, Quad-Core Intel Celeron Processor, 16GB RAM, 256GB Storage(128GB eMMC+ 128GB Ghost Manta SD Card), 1 Year Office 365, HDMI, Win 11. This is exactly what it’s titled as on Amazon and it’s $299 US dollars. I read on another page that this could be a good cheap laptop for gaming and wanted to get suggestions and opinions from someone who knows more about computers than I do since I’ve bought quite a few lemons in the past when it comes to laptops and am wary about buying one due to this.

Thank you so much for any assistance anyone can give me, I appreciate it! And yes, I know this is a small amount of money for a laptop, I’m sorry! But due to medical bills, right now this is all I can afford. Thank you!

PS: If possible, please, no Chromebooks, they drive me a bit crazy haha!

r/GamingLaptops on Reddit: What are the best budget laptops to buy in 2026?

My current laptop is on its last legs and I need to replace it soon without spending a ton. I’m a student in the US and I mostly use my laptop for schoolwork, browsing, streaming, light coding and some games like FPS. Portability and battery life matter since I carry it around campus, and I want something that will still feel usable for a few years.

My budget is around $500–$800 open to refurbished or student deals. I’m open to Windows or ChromeOS. I’ve looked at a few Lenovo and Acer models, but the specs and reviews are starting to blur together.

What budget laptops in 2026 do you think are actually worth buying right now?

Any recommendations or things to watch out for would be really appreciated!

Microcenter has the best deal on a LOQ I've seen in quite a while. People will tell you to avoid LOQs but $400-$500 is the sweet spot and you're getting good value for that money. https://www.microcenter.com/product/698179/lenovo-loq-15iax9e-156-gaming-laptop-computer-luna-grey Else portability with good battery life and gaming laptops are mutually exclusive at your price range. If you're looking for a good laptop to do laptop things that is alright enough at gaming to maybe burn off some steam you can look at workbooks with dedicated GPUs. Something like https://www.microcenter.com/product/694242/hp-omnibook-7-ai-16-ay0002nr-oled-16-laptop-computer-glacier-silver-aluminum Or else you could look for used professional workstations. HP, Dell, and Lenovo have professional lines of laptops that are sold off very cheaply on three year cycles as corporate leases expire. Often you can find machines that retail for $2-3k on sale for $500 on eBay or Backmarket. Many even gave workstation GPUs which are not meant for gaming but would be a massive step up from integrated graphics. My final recommendation is to get a Macbook or equivalent Ultrabook for your needs and just shell out for a Geforce Now subscription while you are in school. It's like $10/month.

Reading the news this week if you wait until 2026 expect budget laptops to have only 8GB of memory. They won't be doing 16GB minimal anymore. Ram prices are not going down until manufacturing gets stable which it won't for the next 2-3 years. If you wait next year say bye bye to that budget range and the new normal budget laptop would be 1000-1200 range. Lenovo and dell will be doing this to their mid range laptops which includes their popular budget Lenovo LOQ laptop line.

I am 17 years old and I work a part time job that makes $8 per hour and I get tips as well. I need to upgrade my current laptop as it isnt running everything that I need it to and it's running low on storage as well. I need something that has a decent amount of storage and is powerful enough to screen record with OBS without lagging (specifically lower quality games like FNF). My price range would be between $200-$350

Any suggestions?

Best Gaming Laptop Reddit 2020: ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 15 Gaming Laptop

After I purchased the ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo Gaming Laptop I was able to intercept strange transmissions which I later discovered were coming from an alien mother ship. After stumbling across the signal on my spectrum analyzer, which the laptop seamlessly interfaced with, I was able to quickly and efficiently de-interlace the code while playing Solitaire on the highest graphical settings, the cards were so real I thought I was at a high stakes Solitaire game in Las Vegas, best part was there was no lag. After my game was over turned to President Whitmore, who informed me that I was able to bring this super sweet laptop into Area 51. While we were being cleared into the building I thought well what better to kill the time than playing a little Minecraft in the Area 51 lobby. Obviously, due the ultra-dank battery life on this bad boy running out of juice was a non-issue. Once I was there, there was a smaller ship in this subterranean hangar. I booted up a virtual machine that ran my Kali VM, put this sweet puppy in promiscuous mode, and was able to trace their IP to a server on the mothership. I was then able to upload a virus there that disabled all of their shields so Will Smith could blow them all to heck. President Whitmore thanked me for my service, and told me without my juggernaut-esk awesome laptop the earth would surely be destroyed. And for the price it’s a steal!

Black Friday laptop deals usually offer up some of the best savings of the November shopping event, and 2020 looks set to be no different.

While Black Friday 2020 is still a few weeks away yet, it's never too early to start prepping for those all important Black Friday laptop deals, and we're here to show you exactly how to do just that.

You'll find all our predictions for the best Black Friday laptop deals right here, drawing on everything we saw go down last year and all the insights we've gathered from tracking laptop deals over the past year.

Black Friday 2019 saw laptop deals on some of the best laptops in the world, and we have a suspicion you’ll find money-saving deals just as good this year.

We expect to see excellent Black Friday laptop deals for the likes of the Dell XPS 13, as well as the best HP laptops, the best Asus laptops and the best Acer laptops. We might even see some MacBooks like the MacBook Pro 13-inch touting brilliant price cuts.

As with last year, the best Black Friday laptop deals should also include the best Chromebooks, best Ultrabooks and best gaming laptops.

Right off the bat, you can count on the best Dell Black Friday deals to take one of these portables home for much cheaper. Those typically go live days – or even weeks – before everything else, so you might even beat the mad Black Friday rush.

Excited to spend that hard-earned cash you’ve worked hard for all year yet? Check out the best Black Friday laptop deals that went live in 2019 to get a better idea of what you can expect in 2020.

The best Black Friday laptop deals from last year

US deals

Samsung Chromebook 3: $159 $99 at Walmart

This brilliant Chromebook from Samsung got an early Black Friday price cut from Walmart, dropping it to just $99. Chromebooks like this one are great affordable laptops for students.

Acer Aspire 1 15.6-inch laptop: $249 $149 at Walmart

This was one of the cheapest laptops Walmart sold, though unlike some of its sub-$100 laptops, this is actually worth getting. Acer has made a very good budget laptop, and while the specs aren't amazing, it's fine for doing a spot of web browsing on.

Acer Aspire 5: $349 $259.99 at Amazon

The Acer Aspire 5 isn't the most powerful piece of kit on the market, but it doesn't need to be. For just $260 on Black Friday 2019, you were able to get a stylish laptop that can get you through everyday computing tasks like checking email and cruising through Facebook.

HP 15 Pale Gold 15.6-inch laptop: $599.99 $379 at Walmart

This wass another great Walmart laptop deal for Black Friday, with the retailer knocking a hefty amount off this powerful laptop with 8Gb RAM, Intel Core i5 processor and a speedy 256GB SSD. It also has a long battery life of up to 12 hours.

Microsoft Surface Pro 7 Core i3, 8GB, 128GB: $959 $599 at Best Buy

This is the entry-level version of Microsoft’s 2-in-1 with a 10th-gen Core i3 processor in the platinum color (silver by any other name) bundled with the Type Cover which comes in black. You were able to get $360 knocked off the price on Black Friday 2019.

Asus ROG Strix gaming laptop: $1,299 $899 at Walmart

If you're after a gaming laptop, then this is was an incredible deal from Walmart, which knocked a huge $400 off the price of this mid-range beast. You get a 9th generation Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1660Ti and a 512GB SSD.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus S GX701: $3,299 $2,497.87 at Amazon

Gaming laptops are expensive, especially when they're thin and light like the Asus ROG Zephyrus S GX701. This portable gaming machine is packed with RTX 2080 graphics and a 1TB SSD so you can store all your favorite games. On Black Friday, the price was cut by $800.

MacBook Pro 15-inch (2019) 256GB $2,399 $1,999 at B&H

This MacBook got a $400 price cut, with a 256GB SSD with a 9th generation i7 processor and 16GB of RAM. If you're looking for a MacBook with above-average punch but don't want to be floored by the prices of the higher range configurations, this would have been the deal for you.

UK deals

Dell Inspiron 15 3000, AMD Ryzen 5, 8GB RAM: £599 £399 at Currys

UK readers were able to save a huge £200 off this great all-round laptop from Dell. With an AMD Ryzen 5 processor, 8GB of RAM and 256GB SSD, this is a top laptop for day-to-day use. At this impressively low price, it's also more tempting than ever.

Lenovo IdeaPad S145-15IWL Intel Core i75, 8GB RAM: £529 £399 at Currys

While there was a cheaper model of the IdeaPad S14 on sale for Curry's Black Friday event, it only comes with 4GB of RAM, which we think is a bit too low for most people, so go for this version instead. It ups the RAM to 8GB, has a Intel Core i5 processor and 256GB SSD for £130 off.

Lenovo Yoga 730 Core i5 1080p: £899.99 £649.97 at eBuyer

You were able to save over £200 on this brilliant convertible laptop that allows the screen to be flipped back and used like a tablet. This model comes with an Intel Core i5-8265U processor, 1080p display, 256GB SSD and 8GB RAM.

Surface Pro 7 i3, 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD and TypeCover: £923 £699 at Microsoft

Build this bundle with a Core i3 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD and select a TypeCover and you would save £224 on a Surface Pro 7.

Dell G3 15 Gaming Laptop, Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, GTX 1650: £918.99 £699 at Dell

With a price cut of £219, the Dell G3 15 was one of the best budget gaming laptops on sale on Black Friday. It's great for playing games at medium settings.

Asus ROG Zephyrus G GA502DU 15.6-inch gaming laptop: £1,199.99 £929 at Amazon

This slimline Asus laptop got a £270 price cut, dropping it below a grand. For the money you got an Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti GPU, AMD Ryzen R7-3750H processor and 8GB RAM.

Apple Macbook Air 13.3-inch: £1,299 £1,149 at John Lewis

John Lewis cut the price of a modern Macbook Air by £150, but if you factor in the addition of a 2-year guarantee, you're more than getting your money's worth with this deal. This laptop has a great design, impressive battery life and good-looking screen.

Dell XPS 13 Core i7, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM, 4K display: £1,818.99 £1,799 at Dell

This deal got you a Dell XPS 13, knocking £269 off the asking price on Black Friday. This was one of the most powerful laptops on sale.

Asking for a friend of mine, they need a gaming laptop that's got decent specs and holds battery charge fairly well and isn't gonna fall apart fast. Looking in the ohio/penn state area, does anyone have any recommendations? Store deals or is anyone's acquaintances selling off their laptop for a cheaper price? Budget is around 1k, can go up a bit but not by much if it's worth it.

Not looking for a specific brand, just anything that'll run with minimal issues especially considering they're not very techy and tech support gets pricey in their area.
