It's hit or miss with Best Buy Open box, sometimes I've gotten stuff that seems brand new, like the buyer just returned it without opening it. Sometimes is basically new, all the packaging is missing, but all the parts are there, not marks or scratches and it all works great. Once or twice I've gotten something that is visibly damaged to the point where I would not want to be the owner, and I had gotten some open boxes where the device does not work at all. Luckily open box items have a longer return window if you decide it's not for you. Answer from GadgetronRatchet on reddit.com

I first ordered a Q800C fair, they gave me a S800B, so i returned it.

2nd time I ordered a Q930C fair, they only gave me the bar, nothing else, so I returned it.

3rd time I ordered another Q800C fair, they gave a bar with huge dents on both end, the dents are so big that the metal grille looks falling off, and a random tiny speaker which they called it "this is the subwoofer", and I returned it.

All 3 were 1.5 hour drive for me. People said bb fair is hot or miss, which isn't the case for me obviously.

BB excellent is good though, I got a pair of SWA-9500S for $73 and they are indeed excellent.

Has anyone had good luck with open box units from Best Buy? Our apartment was broken in to last week, they stole the Playbar, a Play:3, and 3 Play:1s. Playbar was connected to the TV with two of the Play:1s as surrounds. One Play:1 was hidden that I used as a "portable" speaker. The Play:3 was in my bedroom. For some strange reason they didn't take the Play:1 from the bathroom, even though they were in there, nor the Play:1 from the spare bedroom, which was their point of entry.

Anyways, we had paid full price for all these items. I'm waiting for a check from insurance (hopefully), and was kinda wondering about getting open-box stuff from Best Buy. Specifically, I see the Play:3s are listed at $235 for open box. I was thinking of just buying mostly these Play:3s to replace some of the ones that were taken. $235 for an open box Play:3 isn't that much more than a brand new Play:1, and it might be worth the extra $35 per speaker for the "upgrade". Anyone had good luck with open box Sonos from Best Buy?

I got two Soundbars near me in Joliet, IL 60436, I'm trying to purchase one to go with my Open Box Good LG C2 65in TV.

Both is Open Box Fair. Obviously can mean anything. Both stores are about an hour away. So I can't just simply drive there for no reason. Last two soundbars I brought that claimed Fair conditions, were literally just the soundbars, with nothing else! This was after the rep on 1800 Best Buy claims just missing the boxes.

Can I buy the Demo model that another store has on display for the Q60B? If so, What's the price on that then? The same as the open box price on the website?

Also can I have an another store transfer something to my local store? It would be from Texas to IL. They have the Q700A in Good condition.

Is there way to find out which Best Buy has this Subwoofer in Open Box condition? https://www.bestbuy.com/site/bose-bass-module-700-wireless-subwoofer-arctic-white/6280555.p?skuId=6280555

I've spent the past few days endlessly researching the best Black Friday deals and comparing soundbars to pair with my fancy new Black Friday tv. After narrowing down my options, I went to Best Buy to speak to one of their home theater specialists about my options. It's been a while since I've been inside a Best Buy, and I was surprised to see that they had an entire section of soundbars displayed that I could simply walk up to and test with my phone's Bluetooth. Needless to say, actually testing the soundbars is way more satisfying than reading the reactions of other people testing the soundbars. But what really made my trip worthwhile was that I purchased an open box Sony HTZ9F for $420. When the employee told me the price, it sounded too good to be true, but they actually allowed me to take everything out of the box and inspect it before purchasing. After walking out with my soundbar, I figured I would make this post for anyone else who may be endlessly researching but struggling to find the right soundbar.

TLDR: 1) Brick and mortar stores still exist. 2) Listening to soundbars is better than reading about soundbars. 3) You may be able to get a better deal in the store than you can find online.

So I recently decided to spring for a pair of Q150's and while I was shopping around I noticed Best Buy had one available in "Open Box, Excellent (looks like new)" condition. Ordered it.

Fast forward a few days and FedEx drops off the shipment. The box looks okay, but when I open them I start noticing things... dented corners, missing audio post nuts... "WTF these are not the speakers I ordered!"

I ran a quick Google Lens search and realized I was shipped a set of KEF Q10s from 1994. Somehow, it appears that not only did Best Buy's returns department accept a 30 year old speaker as a return for a modern one from the original buyer, their resale team looked at this deteriorating 30 year old speaker and thought "yup, excellent condition" despite the fact that it looks nothing like the model they're selling it as.

Last time I bought something from Best Buy was years ago and it appears BB is doing everything in its power to discard whatever is left of their relevance.

TLDR: Ordered a set of "Open Box, Excellent (looks like new)" KEF Q150 speakers from Best Buy. Received a 30 years old set of KEF Q10 instead!

Had been watching these KEF Q series floor set for a while at the local BB. They eventually went on floor model clearance. I started with the JBL HTR…then the center sounded like a great deal at $208…sigh, then the Q950s were reduced to $670/speaker. Have been having a great time listening. Watching Firefly for the first time (my bf loves it) and loving the HT sound. Biggest surprise music-wise is that big 1.5 inch tweeter offers some excellent lower mid range. And all the bass, of course. Passive radiators are sweet!

r/Soundbars on Reddit: Review Best Buy Bose Soundbar 300 Open Box - Excellent Condition
October 6, 2021 - I just pulled the trigger on my first Best Buy open box "Excellent" condition Bose soundbar 300. I had read several reviews where tons of people said not to buy an open box online but get it from the store directly so you can check it out. I had seen a Bose smart soundbar 300 in Excellent condition but it was online and I could not pick up in store.

r/Soundbars on Reddit: Open Box or Refurbed soundbar on Amazon?
March 24, 2020 -

Hey guys, I have my eyes on a soundbar on Amazon, and there are more cost-effective options via third parties (thru Amazon). One unit is available "Used-Like New" (Manufacturer Refurbished) and there is another "Used-Like New (Open Box, Like New, Never Used, Full Warranty) for $70 more than the refurbed.

Both of the stores (PrimeTimeBuys and Video & Audio Center) have extremely good ratings overall, so I'm guessing either would be ok. PrimeTime Buys's return policy just references Amazon's return policy as well as the A-to-Z guarantee.

Video & Audio Center's is a bit more specific. Basically can only return if it is damaged or defective, if I'm reading correctly.

The only reason that I would need to return it is if it is defective or damaged.

Has anyone gotten an open box and/or refurbed from Amazon third parties and in general, is one direction better than the other? Amazon has conditioned me to feel safe and warm when ordering direct through them, but I'm hesitant to go third party. I'd love any insights you might have.

Thank guys!

Saw a pair of KEF Q-150 speakers for a good price on the BB website. They were marked “Open Box - Excellent”, so I figured why not. They arrived in a box that would have easily fit six of them, and with zero packing, just a sheet of thin plastic to separate the speakers. Check out all the pics. I’d love to know who has the job of sealing that box with the “Best Buy Inspected” tape. Beware ordering open box items for delivery. See them in person I guess is the moral of the story.
