We have a Dyson V8. It is great, well made and replaced the full-sized vacuum in our house. It works well as a stick or as a handheld. Takes care of cat hair and litter no problem. Works on rugs too. Battery is fine after 2.5 years we had it. And it is replicable.

We have a Dyson DC6 / DC59 that we got on Walmart clearance for $90 that works really well for dog hair. Nowdays there's tons of knockoff chinese Dyson designs on Amazon. Or the Samsung / LG / Shark stick vacs go on sale a lot. Dyson still works the best in online test thoguh.
