I have a 32in wide x 9in deep Ikea bathroom medicine cabinet with a built in LED light. It's non-dimmable and I'd prefer a wall-dimmable with warmer color temperature. I'm considering either removing the built in light and retrofitting a new one, or replacing the entire cabinet.

Most of the replacement lights I've found aren't 9in deep, and mounting to the top of the medicine cabinet would leave an awkward gap between the back of the light and the wall.

Would it be better to replace just the light, or install an entirely new cabinet?

I'm looking for advice re:

Specific dimmable & warm color temperature lights & how to mount - ideally something modern & simple like the existing one.
Or, similarly designed & sized medicine cabinets with a built-in warm, wall-dimmable light.

Honestly, IKEA makes the simplest and most elegant mount-on-wall mirror cabinets I've found. It would seem a shame to lose your existing cabinet simply for the light! You can always block out the gap behind a new, shallower light. It can be a piece of wood painted your wall color or, better, covered with a matching piece of stainless steel trim. You'll always see the line, but I promise you no one else will. That's the match-it-to-make-it disappear option. The other way to go is to make the "mismatch" more prominent so that it looks intentional. This might be as simple as adding a bit of material *below* the new fixture so that it stands off the top of the cabinet. Visually this would read as "cabinet with light on it" rather than "cabinet with a slightly too short light". Also, check back to IKEA; might they now have dimmable lights?
