I’ve got a $2,500–$3,000 budget for a prebuilt gaming PC, but honestly I’m starting to think spending that much is kind of a scam.. most “high-end” pre-builts in this range seem like overpriced RGB boxes with mid-tier parts, insane markups, and specs that barely outperform rigs $800 cheaper. Is there actually a prebuilt out there that’s worth this kind of money, or is the whole $3K prebuilt market just hype?

Currently I am looking at these pre-builts companies:

iBUYPOWER
MSI Codex

That is an odd price point in this market because of the price gap between the 5080 and 5090 and RAM right now. You either get a good deal on a 5080 budget build for $2k to $2.5k post cyber week deals. Or you have to skip a few thousand to like $4-5k to get a thicc 5090 build. Anything else youre just going to be getting a marginally better Mobo or PSU or Storage for a premium price. And from those companies yes, there will be a little scam-age at that price point. They operate off large volume of more affordable components so to cater to bigger spenders, they have to add unecessry BS to close the gap. But in many cases they are hard to beat for budget builds. Check out Andromeda Insights. This community and the discord will recommend them often and they cater more to the small volume higher price point orders and so tend to be better built, supported, and include more quality components. They have some good 5080 builds with reasonable markup for that range.
