Can anyone recommend battery operated (or rechargeable) motion sensor strip lights for my closet? I have overhead lighting but need more light behind hanging clothes. I don’t have outlets in the closet.
I tried some that had good ratings on Amazon but found they needed recharging every 2-3 weeks which is a pain.
Can anyone recommend a brand with longer life?

Pretty much the title. I could, hypothetically, hard wire them but I really prefer not to for a couple of reasons, unless the general consensus is that the battery operated LED lights are just truly not worth it.
My goals are to simply install the strip lights under and above the kitchen cabinets. Ideally, they would also be able to connect with my Google Home ecosystem.
Just wondering what the community thinks are the best options for this scenario.

I'm building a wall piece for my sister and I'm trying to find a set of strip LED lights to attach to the back to make it "glow". I'd prefer them to be battery powered so there's not some random wire coming from the piece. However, I'm having some trouble finding something and was wondering if anyone here knows where to look. Side question, some other reddit posters mentioned these strips only last for 15 minutes or so. If that's the case then I'll use a wired option, but I'm only looking for 3-4 feet anyway and some other locations are boasting 100+ hours with just 3 AA's. Any truth to one or the other?
You could get some stick-on copper foil tape and run 12V at low amperage up to the art piece. Mount some small terminal blocks at each end, then paint over the tape to make the wire disappear.
Battery life depends on current draw. The current that a set of LEDs draws depends on how many LEDs there are, how much current each LED draws, and the voltage you run them at. At 12V, one rgb 5050 LED draws about 60mA (white). A single color 5050, about 20mA. At 5V, they will draw less than half that, but be much dimmer. So, take your battery capacity (in mAH), divide by your total LED current (in mA), and multiply by 0.7 (for other losses) to get a rough estimate of on time.
Looking to find Led strips for a project I’m working on but would really like for them to be cuttable, rechargeable (as in not connected to a wall outlet constantly), bright, and preferably color changing. Anyone got anything for me? Thanks!

I have a solid granite backsplash taking all the space between countertop and cabinets, and I really don't want to drill into my kitchen cabinets to wire lights.
Are there any smart LED lights that I could recharge weekly and then have them working 3-4 hours a day, turned on with either an automation shortcut or motion sensor ?
I've been getting cheap strips off amazon every year for 3 years now. I'm ready to throw in good money because I am tired of the lights discoloring mere months after purchasing. I noticed the first spots in this set about a month in. And now, a year later, there is more discolored spots than normal spots. In the first pic, they should be purple. Second, they should be blue. And third, they should be pink. There are a few colors that are fine though, which would be true rgb green and a few of its adjacent shades. I have no idea anything about lights and how much a good set costs, but I am willing to put down some good money if it's worth it. Type: handheld lights, i really like the strip lights that come with multiple LEDs.
Main Use: Preferably this flashlight will be able to standalone on a table or bench and illuminate an area where both hands will be working on something.

Anything Else?: i've owned a few of these craftsmen rechargeable flashlights and they work well, but the light definitely loses its brightness after 20 minutes of use. Those strip lights are usually pretty crappy, to be honest. They tend to use really awful 5mm LEDs, whereas a single SMD LED could greatly exceed their output, as well as have better color accuracy and tint.
With that in mind, I’d like to recommend the Armytek Elf C2. It has a great battery life, a magnetic tailcap so it can be mounted many different places, and it is rechargeable with micro-USB. Oh, and it’s small enough that you can actually carry it in your pocket wherever you go.
I have a Big Larry light, which I like. It's powered by 3 AA batteries, so you could use rechargeable, if you want. Magnetic base, red mode, and decently bright (400 lumens on high). I keep it in my car most of the time, and it just seems to work.
I have been wondering what are the best led strips for my ceiling. I am going to do an cloudy sky on my ceiling with led strips and cotton. Philips hue is bit out of my price range. The leds should preferrably be 5 meters and should be able to be controlled via an app.
Hello, i am currently trying to find a good led strip that is less than $35 per 5m that i will be using to back light a bookshelf in a dark corner of a room. I am going to be running them through hassio. There are so many manufacturers and i am new to the world of led strips so i don't know how to tell good from bad and reviews on amazon don't help much. I would like it to be compatible with a nodemcu esp8266, individually addressable diodes, 12v, 60 leds per meter(unless you think that's not needed for my project) good reliability, (i dont want to have to replace them 6 months down the road and they will only be on for a max of 20 hours in a week.) I don't need them to come with a controller or a psu as i am figuring on sourcing that myself. (if you have any recommendations for a quality 12v 30a power supply thats not going to cause a fire in my house i would be greatful!) I'm not sure what other information would be good to put here so if you need extra info let me know. Can't wait to see everyone's recommendations! :D
I've tested one set of 2838 LEDs from Amazon for crown molding project and will likely add these to all bedrooms. I'll likely go with brighter 5050s on a dimmer.

LED strip lights are one of those things where there are a ton of different and varying qualities, outputs, and lifespans. I have done a lot of research and have favorites. The question for you is really, what is the intended use and lifespan you are looking for vs budget.
If you are looking for something that will last 10-15 years, have amazing color rendering, use the best LEDs with the best phosphors, 3-4oz copper strip for heat dissipation, and a really bright output, you probably want to avoid aliexpress and most amazon sellers. I am sure there are great ones on amazon. I couldnt find it. Also here in this page I have seen people link to amazon with referral links. Check the link before you take someones advice.
5050s are the older LED type and pretty inefficient compared to the new LEDs out there. If you are looking for color changing RGB, yeah the 5050s are good. But if you are looking for cove lighting with a nice warm white... I would recommend 3014, 2835, 2216, and 2110 LEDs (in high density).
You're probably going to need something 300-500 lumen per foot + on a dimmer if you need some good output.
I recommend going with a 24V light, as you can make longer runs without doltage drop or uses of amplifiers.
Amazon is a crapshoot. I have had great results for small behind the TV projects but when purchased again from same seller, the product changed and was junk. Others I got from amazon got too hot. I think they are overdriving the LEDs to achieve brightness.
Option 1 - Flexfire LEDs - Great super-bright product. I ordered years ago and the lights are still extremely bright, run cool, and they had a design service for free where I took my photos of my project and they built it all out and quoted it. A little more than I wanted to spend but for a 30-day guarantee, I said go for it. They have like 1500+ 5-star reviews that I assume are real. I love these.
Option 2 - Elemental LEDs I also tried these guys but I cannot find where you can buy online anymore. They had a good selection of dimmers and remotes and I used their lower output lights on my kickboards. They are still running well!
Option 3 - Environmental Lights - Great for DMX and controlls. I havent tried their lights honestly but the specs look good.

Price. I tend to go higher quality = higher price. I think I paid like $115 for the Flex fire stuff per reel but it was 3x as bright as the other stuff and has lasted forever.

Color temperature and CRI (will each reel you get match the other reels color?) You do not want 5 reels with different shades of white, even a slight variation sucks.

I am looking for this info as well. I picked up a Lightify starter kit on prime day. Having a hard time figuring out what 5 pin led strips are best to use for adding on... Because 6 feet is just not enough.
I recently bought a strip of 12v 24W natural white LEDs on amazon to light up a liquor cabinet. What I need to know is if it would be feasible to run them off of a battery/batteries rather than drill a hole in an antique piece of furniture for a plug.

I'm developing a measurement tool which composes of a LED-strip. The LED strip need to be approx. 1 meter, and I aim to find a strip with the highest possible brightness available on the market (cost is of no problem). I have found some that claim ca 1000 lm/ft. But as a laymen I would like your feedback on the "brightest LED strip" on the market 2024. The color temp is of no interest, but is there any color that is preferable for MAX brightness?
I have a lot of HUE bulbs and stuff. And honestly, I just cannot see justifying the insanely high Phillips prices for the next stage of house lighting.
I am just looking to do things like under cabinets, some crown molding ambiance, etc.
I just don't know where to start there are so many different sets of light strips out there. And I need them for such a variety of applications (for example cabinet lights are going to need multiple shorter strips, while crown lights will take basically one gigantic strip etc.)
Everything I do is usually SmartThings, Google Home, and IFTTT. So it needs to work with that. Also needs to have full range of color and brightness.

If I told you how much time I've spent looking for the most durable yet customizable LED light strips on Amazon, you simply would not believe me. It seems everything that's sold in there is cheap Chinese crap that blows out in mere months. The only durable ones I have tested so far are IKEA ones, but the problem with those is that you cannot cut and shape them the same way you can do as the ones shown in the picture since they have a rigid plastic casing.
Does anyone here know of the perfect, ultimate set of light strips money can buy? Preferably ones that come in a roll so I'm not forced to purchase an unnecessary power adaptor each time I need more lights.

I have been working on a DIY project involving a pre-built cabinet, and I've cut and painted my own wooden inserts to act as a display unit for some of my Hot Wheels collectibles. I am at the stage where I need some lighting for the unit, but unsure on which to use
I will need about 10 metres of continuous cable that is flexible enough to bend at almost 180 degrees to snake back on itself twice per shelf, and not cost me a fortune to buy. The cable can be one long continuous piece, or I am not opposed to having shorter pieces (about 40cm each) connected by wire, but I am aware these pieces would have to all be manually cut and wired which is not my strongpoint lol
I would really appreciate any advice and would be happy to provide pics or more info if needed
