Everyone I work with is reallyyyy name brands and presentation. I need to freshen up my professional closet and shoes (it’s also not my taste at all, I love basics and chucks?)

Looking for:

1- large store/selections, or possibly a walkable cluster (less time driving from one store to the next)

2- actually affordable (looking at you Los Feliz flea)

3- not junk junk, doesn’t need to be vintage or name brands, just need to look like I didn’t get everything thrifted cause I’m poor

Edit: mid-size, and def prefer dresses for work (easier, looks great) so places with lots of them, and shoes. I have a great sneaker collection but few professional options.

My feeling is if anyone knows any secret great priced spots they're probably not willing to share them. (I have no such spots, but wish I did). My best suggestion would be https://itsawraphollywood.com/index.htm on Magnolia in Burbank. They get wardrobe from TV shows/movies/commercials and resell it. If you are lucky (which I've been on a couple occasions) some show has just wrapped where some actor is the same size as you and you can find a whole basically unused wardrobe in your size. Not everything is designer, and not everything is nice, but when it hits for you, it is great. They also get new stuff a lot, and very often have big sales. That section of Magnolia also has a number of other thrift/vintage stores in walking distance, so it's a good cluster too. Good luck looking fancy for less $!

Valley Value Center at Woodman/Victory if you’re willing to spend the time to go through the racks. There’s always stuff to be found there. Salvation Army, especially the boutique one on Ventura Blvd, and follow them on social media to stay informed about their tag sales. They will have weekends where the regular stores have all $2.99 items and the boutique store has all $4.99 items (clothing, not the whole store.) All Things and More in Sun Valley if you’re willing to climb the death pile. Best prices but you want to be prepared to spend some time digging. I’d say the bins at Goodwill but the LA area ones all tend to be very competitive and the t-shirt bros hang out all day. But if you want to join the hunt, it can be a fun distraction from the stores. Finally, if you want to make the hike to the DI, Deseret Industries (south of the 5/10 interchange off S Soto) is good picking and good prices.

Willing to drive an hour for a weekend trip.

Most of the thrift stores in LA, in my opinion, have been heavily lackluster compared to my experience thrifting in Boston. Prices are higher and quality seems less.

I’ve been to son of a vet, st. Vincent’s, bridge thrift, and a lot of the other small ones.

Are there any stores out there that still hve some decent finds?

So I love thrifting, I don’t even resell but it is a hobby of mine for sure. But it’s not very fun when a basic denim jacket at goodwill is $25 I’m seriously considering traveling to the Midwest just to spend a few days shopping lmao. But until then, where are the best spots in socal? Doesn’t have to be LA. I’m from the desert (antelope valley) and you’d think thrifting would be better here but it’s just as over priced. I’m willing to drive a couple hours away

Open to any suggestions. If it helps, I like the things that are already harder to find since it’s hot here Love vintage jackets like workwear, bomber, leather, etc. 80s-90s clothes. Maybe your dad’s closet if he’s super cool.

Find elsewhere

Best thrifting in Los Angeles? : r/AskLosAngeles
January 1, 2023 - Lots of stuff in there for reasonable prices unlike some of the thrift shops directly on melrose. Also the melrose trading post at the high school is open on sundays and there some cool finds there too. Think it’s like 5 bucks to enter ... Jet rag is my go to. So much stuff. I’ve spent hours in there before. ... Savers is where the best deals are. I’ve found goodwills in the eastern part of the SVG (think Claremont/upland) charge cheaper prices then the rest of LA County.

I’m new to LA and wanted to ask: where are the best spots are to thrift? Mostly interested in fun shirts, tops, and light jackets (any spots that have denim jackets would be a bonus). Thanks in advance for any recs! 😀

Guy here but open to shopping in the women’s dept. since the colors and patterns are always better.

My brother and I have been bonding over thrifting lately, he just had a newborn a few months back so I’m just trying to squeeze in some time before dad duties take over completely.

There was a thread here regarding thrifting in LA but it’s over 7 years old maybe we can get some updated information here?

We’re looking for men’s vintage clothing, thrift stores that may have brand-names if you dig hard enough, flea markets where brand names are sold/trade, and lastly we really enjoy window shopping stores that have dead-stock shoes, rare Supreme collabs and so forth.

Ps. I saw a TikTok of an LA local who was mad that people who come aren’t impressed because we non-locals don’t know where to go and I’m guilty of this, if I go to LA I’ll just go to the star boardwalk I know nothing else lol. C’mon on man! Someone put me on lol!

So far I’ve only really been into 2nd Street and Uptown Cheapskate in Torrance but if there’s any good ones you might know of with fire steals I am fully down to check out!
