Running list of Vintage Shops in NYC
Ooh, yay to this thread! A few suggestions come to mind: Beacon's Closet: Oodles of vintage at good prices. The contemporary/designer stuff can definitely be overpriced, but I've gotten several amazing 60s and 70s pieces for very little money. I particularly like the location on Bogart St in BK. The one on 13th in Manhattan is good, too. Buffalo Exchange: Of course this is hit or miss. Of course it's largely contemporary. But I gotta say--when the vintage finds hit, they hit. I like the 26th St location. Yesterday's News: Antique store in Carroll Gardens. The vintage clothing section is small, but cool. Lots of funky jewelry! THE FLEAS: Most important note on this list. Rent is expensive here, so stores are forced to upcharge you more. Mobile sellers have more price flexibility. The Chelsea Flea can be great. Brooklyn Flea, too. My favorite will probably always be the Grand Bazaar (UWS) for the sheer variety of sellers there. So easy to make a day of it! It's absolutely true that digging through flea market stalls is harder and more time consuming that shopping at a curated brick & mortar vintage store...but I find it a lot more rewarding. Unique pieces, good prices, and the chance to talk with cool people. :) If you really want to enjoy a big selection and have a friend with a car...go to New Jersey. There are tons of antique and vintage stores in the near suburbs. It's even worth renting a zip car for the day if you can get a group together. More on reddit.com

September 4, 2025 -

Hi everyone! I absolutely adore vintage shopping starting to compile a list of my favorite vintage stores in NYC and looking to add to it. Thought you all could help me! For reference I am trying to curate the list a bit - I love stores where I can get bags, shoes, and quality clothing in one place and want to make sure prices are fair. Here is what I have so far:

  • Michael's Consignment

  • Pilgrim NYC

  • James Veloria

  • L Train (not as curated, but I tend to have good finds)

  • What goes around comes around (although are they dumb overpriced?)

  • Khata

  • All housing works locations (esp e91st and west village)

  • Le Grand Strip

  • Seven wonders (but also is this so overpriced I can't tell?)

  • Stella Dallas <3

  • Feng Sway

  • 2nd on university and ludlow (what other locations are good?)

What am I missing and how do I understand what is overpriced - I want to make sure these places give good deals. Thank you!!

not nyc but if you're looking to understand prices/deals you can use a price comparison website like second sense . As for vintage stores in nyc, they're almost all going to be "overpriced". You're essentially paying a "curation fee" and "try before you buy" fee. you can either try directly on ebay to find good deals OR you can go to these vintage stores, try on the items, then google reverse image search to find the item online for a fraction of the cost (i do this often with seven wonders lmao)
