I've gone through microphone hell. I've tried the Movo VXR10, an amazon lav mic, Senheiser MXE 400, Senheiser MKE 600, and Rode Wireless Go II. Get the Wireless Go II, it's pricey, but WORTH IT!!! I've had about 5 videos ruined by poor mic performance.

For low-budget purposes, a simple zoom h4n is a great starter pack for recording. For microphones, depending if you want to go to a more expensive condenser variant or not, out of dynamic microphones, shure sm 56/57 are good enough for violin recording (for voice, condensers are way to go, but then you need phantom power etc.), combined with, say, steinberg ur22 if you want to connect it to a computer as well.

You may need some adapters to help you with this (e.g., a Lightning to 3.5 mm converter or Lightning to USB adapter). As for the microphone, I'd suggest a Blue Yeti.

Hey everyone, I’m looking for a wireless microphone setup that works with an iohone and can handle recording classical music — things like organ, piano, or chamber ensembles.
Sound quality is really important to me. I need something that captures clarity, dynamics, and natural tone without that compressed or harsh “mobile mic” sound you often hear in consumer gear. Most of the wireless systems I’ve seen are aimed at vloggers or podcasters, but I’m hoping there’s something out there that’s better suited for acoustic music.
Ideally, I’m hoping for something that’s fairly plug-and-play, without needing extra gear like an interface or a bunch of adapters. Just a clean, mobile setup that sounds great and works reliably.
Would love to hear what has worked for you or what you’d recommend. Thanks!

I'll be honest, I don't think what you are asking for exists. The market just doesn't exist for this. Just use a real recorder and proper mics if sound quality is important to you. Zoom F3 and a pair of good quality small diaphragm condenser mics will cover most scenarios. You can do a wireless hop from the recorder to the iPhone if you're using that to record your video so you get clean sync for matching the recorder audio in post.

By definition, Bluetooth uses digital compression because of the limited RF bandwidth. So you need to rule out anything bluetooth. Also, phones normally use some AI related noise cancellation, to try to make speech more intelligible in noisy environments. There's often a setting to disable this, but it's buried deep in the menu structure so you need to find it and turn it off. Honestly, if you want to record classical music easily and with good fidelity, the best option is a good recorder (e.g. Tascam, Zoom, Sony, etc.) and if you're not happy with the internal mics then a pair of good mics. Forget about the phone and forget about wireless.

I personally bought a Rode wireless pro (with 2 mics) - and it's great. You can both plug it into your phone or record onto the device. It's been great in outdoor and indoor environments. It has both a traditional alligator clip, and a magnetic clip for the receiver. The receiver has a built in mic, or the one I bought also cam with Lav mics. Overall, really happy with it. One of the best mics I've bought (I've had a few over the years), especially wireless. I got mine for under $350 - but so far well worth it. Just used it to record a podcast at an event, and it sounds great even before any clean-up.
