Backsplash advice: white or black reflective tile?
For those with white subway tile backsplash with black grout in their kitchen and what color are your cabinets?
Black Backsplash too bold?
Thoughts on toning down a black and white kitchen
I would simply install a new backsplash, easiest and least expensive solution. Leave all else as-is (add the missing three doors back though).
Colours for the backsplash would echo the tones in the beige cabinet doors, and some of the tones in the floor. I would suggest a mostly white/light background colour for the backsplash with just a bit of the colours that I just mentioned.

We are in the middle of a kitchen Reno. We are using American woodmark maple rye cabinets, a white fireclay farmhouse sink. Counters will be white marbled quartz w gold threading. Floor is light wood (oak with bona nordicseal). We have a matte black commercial style faucet. Black trim (lighting fixtures, outlets, cabinet handles, etc).
We both prefer the black tiles shown, but are concerned that even though they are reflective, the faucet is going to get lost. Is that a fair concern? The white is our other option, which we are fine with but would prefer black.
We have black quartz countertops, white cabinets with black hardware and white subway tile backsplash with black grout. Our kitchen floors are a honey hardwood.
But for the past few months I’ve been feeling like there is TOO much white with the white subway tile and white cabinets (especially since we have a white dishwasher and white fridge too!)
I need inspo on what colors would look good with this backsplash and countertop!! I can’t find many inspo pics on Pinterest or online with the black grout.
Let me know what paint colors you have for your cabinet!! Show me pics!! Or what you think would be best with this combo!!
THANK YOU!
Hi! My fiancé and I finally had our offer accepted on our first home!
It’s new construction and we got in early enough to pick out some finishes. I’m not a huge fan of new builds, and the basic look all of them have.
Some parts of the kitchen were already decided for us
white cabinets
white/grey/ black granite counter tops
We want our home to be warm with some deep tones// our furniture and things are all light tans, natural woods, golds, greens, black accents, dark yellows and blush
We wanted to pick a green backsplash but felt like that may take away the opportunity to have more freedom with color in the home
So we picked this beautiful black backsplash, but now the fiancé is having second thoughts on it being too bold.
The tile is matte black picket, would be laid vertical, and it’s got a wavy texture to it (pictured tile does not)
Included photos of the space I don’t have updated photos of the cabinets, but cabinets are placed in an L shape with a pantry in the middle and an island.
The kitchen/ living room is very bright, large windows.
Hoping to convince her otherwise, what do you all think?
