I just got an email saying that bluebird will be discontinued in a year. This card has enabled me to do a lot online, and didn't charge a lot in fees. Any recommendations for an alternative? Preferably one I can easily refill and that has the ability to create subaccounts?

It's not just Bluebird... Amex seems to be shutting down their entire reloadable card division, because I just got a similar email about 30 minutes ago about how they will be discontinuing Amex Serve cards on June 3, 2026.

I miss the infinite money trick: load Bluebird with Discover Debit and earn 1% rewards, and then withdraw cash at ATM.

I currently have a Walmart Bluebird account for my "Fun Money" account. It is the card I use for WebPurchases and other things I want to keep seperate from the Family account. My wife also uses it sometimes, so no secrets, only from scammers...

Anyway, BlueBird and Serve are shiutting down, so I need a new card.

Needs to be a PRE-PAID, don't want another checking account
Needs to be NO FEES as some inactive fees could eat an account.
Needs to be RELOADABLE
Needs to usable everywhere (Aliexpress, Amazon, others...)

All of the Articles that Like blueBird are right, its a great service, but apparently not sustainable.

Why? Sorry, you're making this way more difficult than it needs to be. Prepaid cards have no FDIC insurance, no regulations, terrible customer service and few, if any, fraud protections. If you insist on not using a credit card at shady retailers like Aliexpress, at least use a debit card for a separate checking account with overdraft disabled. Although a credit card is still the best thing to use for everything. There is no good reason to use these prepaid cards.

why are you rejecting the easiest solution that would be to get a normal bank account and get a normal credit card for online purchases for the consumer protections
