No advantage. The wave music system has been around for years. The original connection that is used for the Bluetooth was called Boselink. Bose loves to reuse existing platforms or make adapters to prevent having to completely redesign and rebuild a system. So they took the easy way out and built an adapter, rather than redesign a new board and a new wave system that had long paid for itself in the past. It's a lazy solution. But it works. Well, there are a few ways you can do this. You can purchase something from Bose second-hand (it should be cheaper than Amazon for $265) or something that uses the Wave III's AUX or BoseLink input. Connecting Bluetooth might turn on the wave system (I have not verified this, but it would make sense).
