I use Zoho. It's like $10 /year or something like that up to 5 mb. You just change the DNS / MX records to point to Zoho. Zoho has a little tutorial on how to connect it to gmail.

I use Purelymail, it's $1 a year for unlimited inboxes. What I like about it is the ability to send from any address on your domain, so if you misspell something or just want to organise better you can do so easily and are able to reply from that exact address

This is my second ever post on reddit so please be kind. I am sure this question has been asked in some form but I can't find it.
I purchased my domain name, the next advice I received was to find somewhere to host the site. As I am starting on the e-commerce journey I thought to go this way so I can use the @ domainname address as my login for Shopify. Keeping my personal email seperate from the store.
I am reading that Shopify hosts but doesn't provide an email? So do I get an outside host and only use shopify for the store itself? Do I have to use Shopify as the host? How do I get an email address with my domain name AND use it as my login for Shopify?
I'm getting lost in all the things I'm reading so I would appreciate someone to clearly lay out my options! Thank ahead of time!

Shopify just hosts the site. Where did you buy the domain? They can provide email for that domain name as well. Alternatively, if you like gmail, look into Gsuite (does what you want plus google drive for business and more) and if that looks like something you want let me know and I can give you a discounted link.

I am looking to purchase a domain and set up hosting and I will end up setting up a Shopify shop. I am lightly experienced with editing Wordpress sites but have never myself purchased and maintained a domain. I also need to set up email for the website. I have a concern about security and hacking and uptime/downtime and having support as I learn how to do this all. Is there a reason it is best to do this all through Shopify, or should I use another servicer?

I like keeping my domains separate from shopify - if/when we move away from shopify, it can just be repointed instead of having to transfer it. It does require extra steps. If you buy the domain on shopify, most of the DNS work gets done for you. Either way, shopify does not host email at all. you should set up your domain to use one of the big providers, like google workspace, outlook, etc. just make sure you jump through the hoops to set up all the required email authentication stuff. For all practical purposes, shopify hosts everything. There actually is a 'headless' option, but that's quite an advanced option.
