I don't really look at the bells and whistles since most can be done aftermarket at a better price. So order what you like and what would work for your skill set. I am placing an order for 13 cabs later this week. No trims. It's a natural wood with a natural finish so we can trim it out ourselves. The only factory provided extra we get is an pre-installed tall pantry pullout for a narrow cab. It wold be a pita to add aftermarket due to the width. Also having flush ends on all cabinets that have exposed sides.

I've never renovated a kitchen before and I need a relatively large renovation done. I have a contractor I may use vs using Lowes / Home Depot's subcontractors; however, how are the cabinets from them quality wise? When I Google for reviews for their brands I see a LOT of complaints but is that just bias bc those are the people who post? Which Lowes / HD brands are good? Is it worth going through them or should I do a local smaller store? I feel like those prices would be higher? I'm clearly new to this and could use some advice.

Has anyone purchased lowes cabinets for a full kitchen remodel? I was priced for a few different options but reviews vary SO much. Diamond now, look very cheap but the price is hard to look away from. Allen and Roth, look better but the price creeps up to what our semi custom was priced at (same quality it appears). And shannadola (sp?) we’re up there with Allen and Roth.
Curious what everyone’s reviews are!

Are you desperate to get the job started immediately or are you in the finding out prices and quality phase? Also, do you live near an IKEA? If you live near an IKEA, check them out.

We got Shenandoah cabinets from Lowe's. Liked the options and quality better than Ikea in person. No complaints at all, we went with plywood boxes and maple fronts. The kitchen design team was surprisingly good to work with.

The things is, if you go to a cabinet shop/supplier, you'll get a better product with more options than you would at a big box store. And often the better product from the cabinet shop/supplier can cost around the same price as the big box store. Not to mention that you'll actually be talking to people who know what they're talking about vs the workers at HD & Lowes. The only time I shop at HD or lowes is if there is something I need right this moment. But good project planning will mitigate those instances. So going through a cabinet supplier/shop will get you a better product at a comparable price (sometimes cheaper). When I'm building custom cabinets for a customer, I'll give them my price to build and install the cabinets and then a price for me ordering cabinets from my cabinet shop supplier I use and the price is always cheaper to get them from the cabinet shop. That way I just have to install the cabinets (which come prefinished so no painting done by me). Yeah, I'm outsourcing labor that I could have made $ on but it streamlines the process so I can complete more jobs in the same amount of time. So my recommendation is to contact a cabinet supplier/ kitchen & closet designer. You'll certainly get a better product that will last and look a lot better over the lifetime of the cabinets. The price difference should be negligible and the increase in quality is substantial compared to the big box stores.
