I'm also confused. The only benefit I've seen is that they can display stolen or amber alert warnings... But that doesn't really seem like a benefit that I should have to pay for if it's making use of public services to have any function. Also, is it the manufacturer's responsibility if it ever acts up and fails to display? All I want is the option for no front plate in my state. I couldn't give a damn what features the plate has.
