I have a professor who I'm disputing with. She gave me a C on a paper, which I disputed and she raised my grade to a B. For reference, I'm on my second bachelor's, started my first bachelor's a decade ago, and had a 3.8 on my first degree and currently have a 4.0.
One of her critiques on my paper was my writing. I've never had a professor critique my writing, so I asked her for more clarification. She suggested on my next paper that we use Grammarly. My university uses Turnitin and has a strict no AI policy. I responded and told her there have been instances at other universities where students have used Grammarly and have had Turnitin detect it as AI. I said I was not willing to risk my academic career on using AI and would instead use spell check and the writing center, both of which are university approved.
I haven't heard back from her yet, but I'm concerned about the implications of a professor potentially suggesting that we use AI when it's specifically against university policy. Do you think this is worth escalating, and if so, do I go to the department chair, or do I go higher up? I may complain anyway if I keep disputing my grades as I've had other issues with her, but I'm wondering if this is significant enough to complain now.
Hello, I’m a student at college and currently in the first year of my degree. I utilize grammarly premium to help check my grammar mistakes and the “clarity function “ that helps provide better clarity on my work. I recently discovered that there was an AI that does essays for you and that Turnitin AI detects if an AI has written your assignment. Specifically some lecturers had advised us as students to use grammarly and some said that it was not allowed. I’m just wondering if the words rephrased by grammarly “clarity” function is considered cheating and would be detected ?
I heard that turn it in . Com added like an AI detector. I think grammarly is AI so I’m just wondering if grammarly will alert that detector. Have any of y’all submitted an essay fixed by grammarly to turn it in and been accused of plagarism or ai content?
