I'm an electrical engineer and not an electrician so take that as context. My wife just brought home three boxes of those so I assume that I am to put them up also beside the point. I haven't looked at them but I don't think there's any transformer at the beginning of the string. I don't know what the plug looks like but as I recall it's just a regular plug so it's pushing 120 volts ac down the main wire. In theory if it's just two wires you could cut it, strip the wires obviously, and put a new plug on one end and whatever the Terminator is on the other end. So as long as the voltage regulation is in the bulb receptacle there shouldn't be any problem cutting the wires as long as you can put the same type of connectors on either end. Not that I can tell. I tried to look and could not see the parallel wire like the Home Depot stuff that I have. I ended up replacing the section under the lip of my platform and used the Costco 25' sections in the light tray, with some area's doubled up, since I couldn't cut it. You cannot tell that there are areas that are doubled up, and I will not have the lights on during movies, just during walk in, or maybe really dim during movies.
