Can I watch Netflix videos on the Apple TV app on Mac computers?
Unfortunately, you cannot watch Netflix videos on the Apple TV app on a Mac computer. Despite integrating many other streaming services, Netflix content is not included in the Apple TV app due to restrictions in the partnership between Netflix and Apple. Therefore, to watch Netflix videos, you still need to log in to the Netflix website via a browser or use the official Netflix application on other platforms.
Why hasn't Netflix launched an app for Mac computers?
Due to various factors such as macOS system constraints, market considerations, and operational strategies, Netflix has yet to release a Mac version of the official app. However, Netflix has already launched its app on iPad, iPhone, and Apple TV, as these devices are more suitable for video viewing, offering better user experience and optimized interfaces. If you're using a Mac computer and wish to watch Netflix content through official channels, you can access the Netflix website via a web browser for online streaming. Alternatively, you can consider using AirPlay from an iPad/iPhone to watch downloaded movies on the iMac's large screen.
What streaming services can you download on a Mac?
Netflix killed Airplay support on April 2019, so it is not possible anymore to use AirPlay in a macOS device to stream from a iOS one.
See this support article at Netflix for more information.
Stream from your iPhone or iPad or iPod Touch to your Mac
The Netflix app for iOS supports AirPlay, a proprietary protocol stack developed by Apple, which allows wireless streaming between devices of multimedia content. This means that you can stream Netflix movies and shows from your iOS devices to any AirPlay-enabled devices over local Wi-Fi. And because the app also supports offline downloads, you have everything you need to enjoy Netflix offline on your Mac. Well, almost everything. You also need an app like AirServer so you can receive AirPlay streams on your Mac.
The easiest and proven solution is to access Netflix via Google Chrome browser on your Mac as @Nimesh Neema explained. You can even stream to any TV using Chromecast in Google Chrome browser and with $35 Cast dongle device (at any best buy) that plugs into any TV with HDMI plug.
