I’m looking to install Canexel/LP Smartside engineered wood siding on my house. Manufacturer calls for flush mount nails. Has anyone used either the 21 or 30 degree for siding or are they too powerful and might damage the siding?

Framing nails are inappropriate for siding, full stop. Don't do it. Roofing nails are commonly used and are similar enough to siding nails to be acceptable. (Source: I'm a general contractor.)
