Canon R8 vs Sony A7C
Sony A7c for Canon EOS R8?
Scope of Use: I am passionate youtuber and want to pursue as my career in long run by making youtube videos, but I will be getting into interiors and real estate photography or into latch into any freelance work to fund my passion for YouTube
Sounds like use cases where pretty much any camera with good enough video features will do. Both of the cameras you have in mind are more than good enough.
I was convinced to purchase A7C but when I went to the store yesterday, the salesman introduced me to the Canon R8. On paper, Canon R8 has everything better than the A7C, except the battery life and IBIS.
Batterly life of R8 is surprisingly poor on paper, though typically the rated numbers are very conservative. But 150 shots using EVF is extremely low rated number. Poor battery performance may hamper video use more than still use as it is a more power hungry use case.
I'd pick the Sony for your use case simply due to this. Other than that the differences in performance are minor - the EVF of Sony is tiny though (and that Canon's EVF isn't breaking any size records eihter), but I imagine movie use is with the screen instead.

*sry if my English is not so good*
I will be posting this on canon and sony reddit's, but with some different questions.
I know this has been asked many times, but I didn't really find an answer suitable for me.
I made a list about my pro's and con's of both cameras. (check the attached photo)
▪︎ So first of all, my main (pro) for the R8 is the 4k60 video, i need the 60fps smooth video for certain things, and if I want 60fps on the A7C, I need to record in 1080p (can't record in 1080p because I need to crop in the video, and you CAN'T crop a 1080p video).
▪︎ I really like the IBIS is the A7C, but is it that good for low light (I can use a slower ShutterSpeed)? Only thing I know its horrible for moving videos (for example vloging). But I heard you can disable it.
▪︎ Also I don't really care about R8's battery life.
▪︎ I already have 2 cameras that I am going to sell
-
A7i with 28-70mm (f/3.5-5.6)FF and an 55-210mm (crop-sensor lens)
-
Canon 250D with 18-55mm kit lens and a 50mm f/1.8
Now I am looking for an cheap wide angle for wloging - now I have my eyes on the CANON RF 16MM F2,8 STM for R8 or Viltrox AF 20mm F2.8 for A7C. That when I will have the money I will by something like a 24-70mm (f/2.8)
So my questions are:
-
Is the rolling shutter that bad on the R8? I am definitely not doing bird photography or any sort of fast things.
-
Do I need the A7C IBIS? I will turn it off for videos if ill buy the A7C, but is it worth losing IBIS by buying the feature fuller R8?
-
Is the ES good in the R8 or you would prefer Gyrometric data like on the A7C?
-
I have an insane screen on my Samsung S24U and I would like to use it as a monitor. I heard that Canon isn't really as strong as Sony for supporting these kinds of things.

And do you have some other FullFrame camera suggestions for 1000€? (used camera)
