According to me, Indian space in cybersecurity works in two parts: The wannabes - Who say they pentest and their titles say they pentest but actually they're just teaching classes and running routine tools to print reports. You might get a job here as a pen tester - although you might not wanna be here 2. The actuals - these people are doing some real work and research but you'll have to do really well to be considered to be hired as a penetration tester here. They usually don't hire freshers. try going for titles like security analysts etc which are more beginner friendly. Note: I am not currently in the security domain, so please take my advice with a grain of salt. More on reddit.com

This helps to mitigate risk and protect the system from being compromised by an unethical hacker or cybercriminal. The CEH is trained to look for weaknesses that can be exploited using the same tools a hacker would use to attack. Their job may include making recommendations for how to patch vulnerabilities or creating strategies to prevent malicious attacks.

I’m a SOC analyst/incident responder with 2 years experience, and passed Security+. I’m mainly looking to improve my skills so I can move into a more senior incident responder role, where I’ll also be helping with some internal pentesting and engineering.
Is CEH a useful certification? And is it something a non-pentester could realistically pass or do you really need to have some real life offensive security experience before taking it?

Look at eJPT which is way more fun (3 day cruisy exam at home all hands on). Pentest+ looks good on resume (US DoD approved standard 8140/8570.01-M) which helps get foot in the door for government clients. No to anything eccouncil imo.
