Personal rant: What are those manufacturers smoking? In my example above, 1I2 converts to 2021-September-02. So it's formatted YMD, and the letter's order in the alphabet correlates to the month. Okay, a little weird but I can get the hang of it. But then I look at a Nivea product, B0003389. What could this possibly mean? 30 mins of searching later. It's Julian calendar day? Why? But wait, it's not even standard Julian format. The right format is YYDDD, and they use DDDY, the year at the end only has 1 digit. So B0003389 means the 338th day of 2019. Just WHY? Gimme YYMMDD!!! I waste 30 mins to 1 hour of my life every time I have to look up a japanese product batch code's meaning. Hope this can save people's time. More on reddit.com

Hey guys. Does anyone know of an accurate source from which to check expiration dates on cosmetics? The few I’ve didn’t have the brands I was checking. Becca was one in particular... Isn’t there something where you just scan the barcode?

I tried with Lancome and they gave me bullshit answer. Basically that they use those numbers for internal purposes, so when I asked point blank they never responded.
