Here's the deal: there's a level of actorial success in Hollywood that allows stars to develop their own projects. It's a level that always ends up serving as a test of taste. Tom Cruise's longetivity is almost entirely indebted to his immaculate taste in material & talent; the guy's made, what, three bad movies since the 80's? The problem for Pratt: he doesn't have good taste, and he lacks any self-awareness about why people like him as a star or what he excels at. He doesn't pick challenging material; stuff like The Terminal List or The Tomorrow War mostly serve as ways for him to flatter his self-image as an American Action Man. The problem is precisely that he doesn't know what makes him a compelling leading man, which is turbocharged by having very basic taste. Cruise's ability to get with people like Robert Towne & Chris McQuarrie is key. Pratt's a talented guy, but to maintain a career as a movie star you can't just be charismatic; you have to have an eye for material. He just doesn't have that. Answer from Deleted User on reddit.com

The Terminal List Review: Chris Pratt's Military 'Thriller' Is Terminally Bad
Serious action man Pratt doesn’t work for me. I prefer goofball who switches between being the butt of the joke and delivering the joke. I just can’t take him seriously More on reddit.com

Why Chris Pratt was Cast as Mario: He's a Government Asset [13:38]
Combined with the paid surprise soldier/family reunion videos, especially at sporting events, this video is really onto something. Whether or not Chris Pratt is actually involved or is merely a beneficial pawn is irrelevant to the overall point. I've noticed a personal uneasiness about possible propaganda whenever I've watched one of these kinds of movies. More on reddit.com

Woof. What a dog.

When did Pratt lose it? Jurassic World seems to make the most sense. It’s like he’s worked out exactly what makes him a compelling leading man and decided to only make things that don’t play to that. My question is why? Did he really want to be a tier one operator that badly?

I’d argue that he doesn’t even work in the Jurassic World movies because his character is entirely humorless. He works best doing the Kurt Russell thing in Guardians. His humor made him pop on Parks and Rec so much that they decided to make him a member of the main cast after intending his arc to end after S1. He either has no sense of his appeal, has the worst agent in the world, or both. Judging from that recent interview where he said his name is not Chris but instead he only answers to “CP,” maybe he’s just an idiot. But yeah, the Jurassic World movies and every choice since then outside of his role in the MCU have zapped him of his appeal. He’s the opposite of Ryan Reynolds, where I want Pratt to just do the one thing that works and I’d love to see Reynolds do literally anything else. The Deadpool energy in everything is just too much.

All Chris Pratt Movies Ranked | Rotten Tomatoes
May 17, 2023 - The stars aligned for a legendary 2014 where he helped make two of the unlikeliest movies connect with audiences and critics: a space opera featuring talking trees and raccoons, and an emotionally affecting movie about sentient toy blocks. Pratt’s involvment with Marvel, LEGO, and then later the Jurassic franchise means he has your childhood pop culture and nostalgia under lock, and his role in Pixar’s Onward has the potential to become a sentimental favorite for a new generation. But enough prattlin’: Here’s all of Chris’ movies ranked by Tomatometer!

The movie is decent but I'm annoyed at some of the main character's choices. First off, he didn't need to try and save his adult future daughter, as her timeline is different to his. Second, there must be some implications from making her come back to his timeline, like a paradox.

I get the whole I'm going to be a saviour dad but God that part was annoying. Also, the way the team administered the toxin into the alien sacks is a whole other issue entirely. The scream and dying alerted the other aliens to wake up. What a stupid move. Of course they will be alerted. Why couldn't they just get out of there and nuke the ship? Instead of wasting your time and costing two people their lives. In that way, the end fight wouldn't have happened with the mother alien. Take more bombs than poison.

Furthermore, trying to save his kids life would have resulted in her death anyway if he was killed before the time jump. Who would have saved the world then? Your damn ghost?

Oh boy, the Tomorrow War. That movie was such a disappointment... It had such an interesting start. I thought it was going to pull something interesting with the whole "environmentalism, sending humans through a portal to die en masse" thing they were building. All the mysteriousness to build up the reveal, the clicking, the near radio silence on actually actionable intelligence.. All to build up to a shitty action movie guns pew pew booom HELICOPTERS WOO HOORAH I SURE LOVE THE MILITARY AAAAAAAAAA ... I'm tired of my nothing movies of generic white guy #34. Yknoe, the working man, who loves his wife and children TM , but is just going through a bit of a rough patch TM . They dont even use the thing Pratt is best at. We get , like, one joke the entire movie. And the joke is "haha we're sending a bunch of incredibly vital military manpower through a portal but we havent even taught them what a safety is!!!" I'm not asking for your average Marvel quip-a-thon, but like... he's a really fun actor! Make use of him! It's like making a movie staring Nicholas Cage, and then having him not speak once the entire movie....... Dont make one of the most basic alien invasion movies in modern history, slap a thin veneer of seriousness and sci-fi*, get a few awesome shots, for just any other movie everyone will forget in favor of things that are actually enjoyable to watch. *jesus christ please dont get me started on the time travel. This vaguely related rant is incoherent enough without me trying to explain why their explanation on time travel is worthless E: Like a migraine, this movie just started growing and growing in my thoughts until it consumed me. My brain is mush. Talk about the stupidest, worst, dumbest use of time travel I've ever seen in a movie. How do you fuck up so bad, that you have na actual, working time machine, and are capable of building and maintaining another in the past, and yet you are incapable of making anymore? Is everyone in, not just the future, but the now an absolute mong? Outside of some twisted stroke of cosmic benevolence, this is one of the most contrived excuses to put a time limit on time travel. HFauf FUkc and I'm sorry, but HOW EXACTLY does sending waves upon waves of people to die en masse not fuck up the timeline more... than those people finding out how they died? or meeting their future selves or FUCKING WHATEVER??? "Oh you can't find out how you die in the future, because in the MINISCULE chance you ACTUALLY DO RETURN ALIVE.... you CAN'T DO ANYTHING TO CHANGE THE TIMELINE"""??? Am I stupid?? Is this simpler than I thought???? I mean, I am stupid, but still! .. I love you Cris, please get a better agent.
