I think the Citi premier is extremely underrated. It hits a lot of multiplies for most (3x groceries, dining, travel, gas). Signed up specifically because I wanted a card with transfer partners to Miles and Smiles. The one major downfall and why I don't use it anymore is due to their fraud department. Card gets declined nonstop when traveling abroad, even when confirming multiple times over that I'll be out of the country. It's 10 steps back as far as fraud tech is concerned. I’m trying to better maximize my rewards and I’m thinking of focusing on the Citi Trifecta of the Citi Double Cash, Citi Custom Cash, and Citi premier card. I admit I don’t travel really but I would like to start and the premier seemed good and honestly may even be decent as a cash back card as well.
But I’m not sure how good it is or if they’re better options. My other credit cards are the capitol one savor one, Amex blue cash everyday and the preferred, Wells Fargo active cash, and chase freedom flex. (I have more but they’re rather selfish for certain things like Amazon)
Is the Citi Premier card a good one to try for and to focus on that trifecta? I have actually done a lot of credit card inquiries and approvals lately too (6 in fact in the last 6 months) so maybe I should wait some time before applying for it?

One major negative thing about the Premier is that it’s from Citi. After that, they don’t have any domestic airline partners (I’m pretty sure) and their hotel transfer partners definitely don’t have a portfolio compared to IHG, Hilton, Hyatt & Marriott. The card earns better than the Sapphire Preferred, Gold & Green card. It’s one of the best earning cards out there at any price point. Then they still give you a full 1¢ per point unlike C1 or Amex when going for cash. But again… Citi. Your mileage may vary with them but I’ve had negative experiences with them. I’m sure plenty have been alright as well.
