Citibank

My opinion on Citi credit cards is mostly positive. I see value in cards such as the CC and DC. I know others find value in additional products beyond those two. As far as a lender goes, I've had more personal issues with Citi than I have had with any other big bank (and I do business with many of them). I fully understand that my personal experiences are not going to be indicative of what others may expect so I'm not going to bash them or anything... just stating that for me, it hasn't been favorable dealing with them. Typically an initial credit is given when a dispute is open. I have never seen any credit card provider finalize the dispute without contacting the merchant. In most scenarios, the credit card company will provide a conditional credit. At this point your credit card company will also clawback the charge from the merchant your are dispute with. The rest of the process varies slightly based upon the credit card company. In all cases they will require the merchant to provide proof of service and any additional information refuting your claim. Often times, this round will generally be upheld in the merchants favor if they can prove you received the item or service. If you are disputing because the item was as advertised or the service inadequate, your credit card company will typically allow you to respond with additional details. At that point they will go back to the merchant one more time. In any of these requests, if you or the merchant fail to respond in your allocated time, they will default the decision to the other party. TL;DR credits are always conditional until the investigation process is complete. If your dispute is valid the credit will remain, if it’s not found in your favor the CC company will change you for it. More on reddit.com

My understanding is that europe is a different chip + pin style from what we use in the US - where everything is typically signature based, and pins are only used for getting ATM cash advances (which you should never do). I have this same card, and whenever I've been in Europe, credit terminals could print a signature slip, although you get odd looks sometimes, and will need assistance at a self checkout line at Tesco Express or similar. Another thing I can tell you is that I've loaded this card onto my samsung watch. You need a pin to unlock the watch payment feature. When used with contactless payment terminals in the UK, this method apparently satisfies the pin requirement - it's a simple tap and go, no signature needed. More on reddit.com
