Today, I just saw this article about claude code and see that they added claude code to pro plan. But you will only get 10-40 prompts every 5 hours. What do you guys think?

Sonnet 4 is excellent for coding. I imagine the use limits will be annoying though. (I hit them all the time with Max haha)

Pro plan subscribers can access Sonnet 4, but won’t be able to use Opus 4 with Claude Code Seems more like a demo mode, but still better than nothing.

When I try to switch /model

Pro user here. I can access Opus 4.5 in the standard Claude (non-code) Web UI, but not in Claude Code CLI. Seems strange, especially as the Opus usage chart has disappeared and been rolled-in to the standard limits according to my Usage page, and others report Opus 4.5 being lighter and cheaper.

I used to subscribe to the Pro plan back in the Claude 3.5–4.0 era, but I canceled because Opus would burn through my usage limits way too fast to feel practical.

Recently, OpenAI Codex’s usage limits have gotten pretty bad, so I’m thinking about switching back to Claude. If I resubscribe, I’d pretty much use it exclusively for Claude Code.

For anyone currently on Pro: how usable are the Opus limits these days when coding? Is it sustainable for daily development, or does it still run out quickly?

I just upgraded to Claude's $20 after using Codex pro...Claude's usage limits are absolute shit. I got one prompt in before it limited me.

Github Copilot's $10/month plan gives 300 "requests" per month. Opus is charged at 3x, so you get 100 requests for $10, $0.10 each. The key difference is that requests can be of infinite length. They are not constrained by tokens or duration. I build-out 30-page github issues and Opus 4.5 churns away for 45 minutes, all on a single $0.10 request. This is an outstanding deal and more people should take advantage. They also have a $39/month plan which gives 1500 requests/month, so 500 Opus requests. 500 is a LOT when each one is a huge issue etc. And for smaller issues, Sonnet 4.5 and Gemini 3 Pro are charged at 1x, 1/3 the cost of Opus. So $0.033/request. If you go over your limit you can enable premium requests, which are $0.04 apiece (so $0.12/request for Opus 4.5). This is also a great deal, if not quite as strong as the base. Note you can't use Claude Code; only the github copilot VScode extension and CLI, Opencode, and Zed work with requests. But the Github Copilot vscode extension has come a long way since you probably last tried it, it ain't claude code by a long shot but it's totally usable now. Opencode and Zed same deal, totally usable.

I just had my usage reset, and on my first request I got this error message:

Claude Opus 4 is not available with the Claude Pro plan. If you have updated your subscription plan recently, run /logout and /login for the plan to take effect

Maybe I am mistaken about it ever being available, but /model indicated it was selected (automatic for 50% of usage, then sonnet). Just wanted to throw it out in case this is new :/

? It was never in the pro plan. Only on max 5x/20x. It’s only available on chat for pro.

Been using the $100 Claude Code plan for 2 months. The default /model (Opus for 20% of usage, then Sonnet 4) was meh. Opus burned out in 15 mins on basic tasks, like driving a Ferrari to grab the mail. The new "Opus Plan Mode" is a game-changer! Worked 8 hours today, never hit the Opus limit. Opus handles the big thinking, Sonnet cranks through the work. I push back on plans until they're spot-on, and I 1 shot complex tasks all day. I skip heavy configs since Claude Code updates often as I'm here to get stuff done fast, not master it. If you haven't tried Opus Plan Mode, you're missing out!

Does it use opus on the initial process of every query then dispatch work to sonnet, or it just switch to opus when it detected the query is a planning task?

I use Serena MCP and the usage is much less! Serena creates guidelines that let’s Claude find what file it needs to edit and the context much faster and straightforward way as compared to how it usually does it! Saves alot of tokens and avoids context bloating.

What do you mean? Opus on Claude Code was never available on Pro.

Opus on Pro is only available on Claude Dekstop/Web/App. It was never available on Claude Code.
