I worked there many years ago but it should still be relevant. As my understanding goes the stores are all owned. Corporate does a lot of controlling though. But the one in Langley, bc is owned at least. Things go on clearance once the supplier either comes out with a new product or stops making it. Once the items spot is needed it's often put on Clarence to just get rid of it to free up space. The deals can be misleading. Anything that says "great value" is NOT on sale. It's simply just shown in the flyer. When something is on sale it will always show the original price along with the sale price on the yellow sticker. Canadian tires buisness model is to sell normal stuff at higher prices but have deep sales on select items to bring people in. This means there are sometimes 75% off on big ticket items such as 300$ socket sets. Always get a raincheck so you are sure to get the product. Since we share product regionally it's likely the store only got like two of the item in. They don't want to sell it, they just want you in the store. Simply get the raincheck so you will get it and leave. Be sure to call back every week or so since they won't always call you when it arrives. More on reddit.com
