White Russian and Colorado Bulldog (which is basically a White Russian topped with cola) In my experience vodka is just there to make other things alcoholic Yeah, sometimes that's exactly what you want. I actually tried a couple of substitutions (e.g. light rum instead of vodka in a White Russian), but they either changed it for the worse or didn't really add anything that justifies using a liquor that's twice as expensive. Vodka cocktails with simple ingredients

You can do a nice Moscow Mule which requires some sort of ginger beer and lime juice. Very refreshing and quite simple. You could make your own ginger syrup and top it off with soda if that is a option for you. Making your own syrup makes it a bit more spicy and interesting. As for a strong option you could do a vodka martini with some nice orange bitters of those are available to you. Could also skip the bitters if those are not widely available. Keep in mind that vodka does not have a very distinctive taste so it will blend well with most flavors. You can definitely play with it! Maybe add a twist to some cocktails that involve vodka like a cosmopolitan, screwdriver, kamikaze ect. Add some local fruit to your drinks, or maybe a local liqueur if you have those.
