I appreciate this action and I think more people should refuse it. Those on-the-spot tests don't really even tell them how knowledgeable of a dev you are, just if you can perform under pressure. Codesandbox uses sandpack to compile react code. Which is just a bundler that works just like webpack but can be shipped to the browser. This doesn't use web assembly in the best way. I believe you want to have a look at Stackblitz. The team is working with Google and they compiled the entire Node runtime to wasm which they are able to ship to the browser. With some clever engineering they are able to run entire Node projects in the browser. Even a server for development purposes! More on reddit.com

Hey! I'm a huge fan of rapidly prototyping and trying out new ideas on codesandbox.io. However I would always miss my local editor setup, shortcuts, plugins, etc. So when I found a yet-to-be-announced way of using the codesandbox bundler 'sandpack' outside of codesandbox, I jumped at the chance to create an atom package which gives you a preview pane for your own code, right inside the editor.
