December 31, 2023 - In this example, binaryToAscii converts the binary data to an ASCII string, and asciiToBinary converts the ASCII string back to binary data. After decoding the ASCII string, you can then parse it as JSON using JSON.parse. Note that this example assumes that the binary data can be accurately represented using ASCII encoding, and it might not be suitable for arbitrary binary data.

This is safe to do because the JSON decoding will fail if it was unable to construct a list of Foo: public Flux<Foo> readFile() { ResolvableType type = ResolvableType.forType(List.class,Foo.class); Flux<DataBuffer> data = DataBufferUtils.read("classpath:test.json", new DefaultDataBufferFactory(), 4096); return new Jackson2JsonDecoder().decode(data, type, null, null) .map(Foo.class::cast); } Share ·

April 1, 2019 - The JSON specifies that the type of object being transformed is a Buffer, and its data. .toString() is not the only way to convert a buffer to a string.

December 8, 2020 - You would see that the data from the files is read reactively and is immediately available on the browser. You can use an EventSource and reduce the data to concrete json object, stream video etc. as per your use case. Same can be done for entity arrays from json files.

Yes. Your raw data is not a string. It's buffer containing bytes. You need to create a ByteArray from it and then convert that to a string before you attempt to parse it as JSON.

r/learnjavascript on Reddit: How to convert Buffer object to usable JSON data?
July 19, 2020 -

The config file I'm reading from looks like this:

{
	"projectId": "projectName",
	"languageCode": "th",
	"numberOfRepeats": "2"
}

I'm trying to read this file but failing so far:

const defaultConfigFilePath = path.join(__dirname, '../../../configuration.json');

export function setConfigData(configFile = defaultConfigFilePath): ConfigData {
  const fileContentBuffer: Buffer = fs.readFileSync(configFile);
  const jsonData: ConfigData = fileContentBuffer.toJSON();
/*
Type '{ type: "Buffer"; data: number[]; }' is missing the following properties from type 'ConfigData': languageCode, numberOfRepeats, projectIdts(2739)
*/

  const configData: ConfigData = JSON.parse(fileContentBuffer);
/*
const fileContentBuffer: Buffer
Argument of type 'Buffer' is not assignable to parameter of type 'string'.ts(2345)
*/

I'm having a tough time figuring out what the issue is exactly. The first error indicates the toJSON method does not return the data shape I expect. The 2nd error indicates parse can't even take a Buffer object. What is the solution then?

JSON.stringify and JSON.parse accept arguments called replacer and reviver respectively which allow customizing the parsing/encoding behavior. This module provides a replacer which encodes Buffer data as a base64-encoded string, and a reviver which turns JSON objects which contain buffer-like data (either as arrays of numbers or strings) into Buffer instances.
