One thing to keep in mind is that performance isn't a selling point of the fully rugged. While I do own a fair number of older Toughbooks (and a 7330) I look at the fact it needs to operate at 165F ambient. Those newer processors might not operate at full capacity in those conditions.
In fact when it comes to tablets Dell is still selling the 8th generation ones or last I checked.

Hello, I am someone whose electronics never seem to last long. This comes from the fact I am quite clumsy. My last computer broke and now I need a new one, and I heard of a 'Rugged Laptop.' These are, of course, meant for outside madness I guess, which I don't really do. But If with normal (aggressiveMy main use animating in Clip Studio Paint) use, the laptop would last longer than a different normal laptop, it would be worth the extra 1,000 to not have to buy a new laptop every <3 years.
It looks like dell by default has a 3 year warranty for this laptop, so that's a sign it should last at least that long. Does anyone have any specs for how long theirs lasts?

I have the 5430 Rugged. The company gave it to me when i asked for a new laptop due to the 6-7 year old was giving me more blue screens that i could accept. I primarily use it for my timesheets as I am forced to use it for that due security stuff. Anything else I use my private much lighter and faster laptop, we work in MS Teams anyway and that can be logged in to from anywhere. I've had mine now for about a year i think. This is my experience so far: It has a nice handle so you can carry it around as is perfectly normal to do and make it really hard to fit in you backpack. You get some nice looks when going through security at airports due to the whole massive size and suspicious look of it. Makes you feel special. The weight is awesome. Add 2kg of weight to your backpack is really good for travel since you're not bringing anything else in those 7kg limits anyway. Charger, documents, work equipment etc doesn't weigh anything anyway. I considered to break it by dropping it down, run over it with a tank or shoot it or something, but due to how expensive it is and that its designed to not be broken i cannot really do that without getting questions from my boss. So i get to keep it for many years to come. The drone operators in the military of my country use it (they were in the news and was using the same laptop) so i feel like im back in the military. I can probably retire early due to health issues and get a good insurance pay-out due to carrying this monster around. You have a storage in the bottom for an extra battery, in my case I use that compartment for a USB pen and other stuff.

Hi,
I find myself needing a personal laptop. I’m completely new to this having been an Apple person for the last 30 years. That said, I need something durable for my work and personal use and like the options I’ve seen from Dell.
Ideally I’d like to find something that has a touchscreen, can run Windows and Microsoft Office with no issues, has an expandable hard drive and ideally is under $800.
I’m open to used and refurbished products just don’t know where to start.
