Today I've just Upgraded to a Fully Loaded Custom spec 7780 with the i9-13950HX, 128GB RAM & RTX 5000 Ada, and it is substantially better than the fully loaded 7760 which it is replacing. The 7760 with Xeon W-11955M / 128GB / RTX A5000 would throttle itself stupid when processing large survey point clouds / aerial mapping imagery. I'm typing this on the 7780 while it's processing a huge point cloud on another screen, and apart from the fans blaring, it's not affecting overall performance at all. The 7760 was unusable for anything else while processing the exact same data. I note that the rear of the 7780 has much better ventilation design, with significantly bigger exhaust ports due to all connectivity & power ports being side-mounted. Very happy so far, whereas the 7760 was a big disappointment. More on reddit.com

I have a 7780 with the top CPU and minimum GPU and 64 Gb. It is my work laptop that I use for energy modeling. It is faster than the XPS it replaced, but I wish I kept my XPS. The 7780 lasts about 45 minutes on battery under heavy CPU load. Maybe 2 hours with normal use. The XPS was at least double. The 7780 also weighs 3.2 kg, is absurdly thick and all around a beast, making it a huge pain to travel with. I'm considering switching to a 14" MBP M3 Max. Performance should be similar but it will weigh half as much and will have much, much better battery life and actually be usable as a laptop (rather than a "portable" desktop with a screen like the 7780). That processor is already pushing 4 years old, it's very hot and slow compared to what is available now. Even a lowly Ultra 5 series CPU will beat the pants off of that i9 in both performance and efficiency. More on reddit.com
