PPE! Grinders are dangerous and you must always wear appropriate eye protection at the minimum. But yes, it can cut metal fairly easily, just make sure you understand that a grinder can kick, so make sure that if it kicks, then it does so away from you. There are also grinding disks that can remove material a bit like a sander. There are sanding disks, but don't assume you can replace a dedicated sander with it. It's an aggressive tool and anything less damaging requires finesse and can kick allot. If a metal cutting disk is damaged, chipped or warped, snap it and put on a new one. They are cheap and at those high rpms, a dodgy disk can literally explode. More on reddit.com

Threaded ones need no backup flange on the backside. Just tighten and go. The direction your spindle turns will keep the disc tight. Unless you have a wonky grinder that spins the other way 😂 With the disc down and the back of the tool up. It spins clockwise (righty tighty) More on reddit.com

I received a very generous gift for Christmas, the 10-Tool Max Combo Kit. I had a smaller kit on my wish list so now I've gained a few extra tools that I hadn't counted on! One tool I've never used is a grinder, and the DCG412B from the kit is intriguing. What are some of the things I could use it for around the house? I could use it as a sander, yes? If so what kind of accessory wheel is needed for that (I'm only familiar with orbit sanders). The kit came with a grinder wheel but I have no idea what it's for; could it be used to cut metal with? I do have an old metal clothesline pole that I'd love to take down; the base is like a 3" pipe. But if that requires a specialty blade (and guard) could anyone let me know which items to get? I'm a total newb with this thing and I want to learn how to set it up correctly. TIA!

Yes the blade it came with is for metal. If you wanna sand they sell flap disks. The wheel it came with should take the cloths line pole down and make sure the guards on it

I've got a DeWalt 4011 angle grinder that I've been using for years. Ordered new wheels (type 27, correct dimensions) but these ones have a threaded insert which I've never seen before, and for the life of me I can't figure out how to install them. With the backing flange on the wheel is outside the guard, but there's no way just screwing it on is enough without anything to secure it right? Are these the incorrect wheels for this grinder? Feeling pretty foolish, help me out internet.
