Anyone built their own? Struggling to find frames/legs that will stand up to the elements i.e stainless, or would I need to get these custom made by a fabricator?

I built one in 2019 using 4x4 posts for legs, built a frame of 2x4s and used decking timber on top. Cost way less than a bought one and it’s way more sturdy. Made some benches to match too

DIY Outdoor Table Plans - Pine and Poplar
August 18, 2023 - *We built our table using 2x6x8 pine boards and cut them down on our table saw to be the size of 2x4s and 2x2s. You can do this or buy the lumber that’s already the correct dimensions as specified in the cut list. Cutting down 2x6s will give your wood a more squared-off look, but requires more work. You’ll need (6) 2x6x8s if you go this route. Not sure if pine is the right choice for you? Read this before using pine on outdoor projects. Get the complete cut list in the printable plans. DIY: Outdoor Wood Table — Chic Style Living
June 22, 2018 - I then drilled screws through the side frame of the table and into the pieces of wood to get a good support for the table top to be anchored onto. Then it’s just a matter of flipping the base onto the table top and screwing it in. This is what the table looked like after. The whole process took about half an hour. When I do DIYs I get to a half way point and sometimes start to slack or pass a few steps but I knew with this one I had to be fully committed to get the best results.

DIY Simple Outdoor Dining Table — the Awesome Orange
December 31, 2019 - Oh and hide stuff I didn’t like… ... or barn wood. This build is super simple and a great beginner project. If you use 2x8’s like I did you will need a table saw to rip the base pieces. Or you can just use 2x'4’s for the base and then you will only need a drill, pocket hole jig (I use the Kreg Foreman and love it, but a simple K4 would work just as well) and miter saw to complete this build. Either way it will be AWESOME! So lets it started making you your own DIY Simple Outdoor Dining ...

August 31, 2024 -
I’m looking to make a simple outdoor table top (I already have some stainless steel legs) and I was astonished by the lack of outdoor suitable wood options… what are you all doing for outdoor furniture?
I can get cedar for $7.70 per board foot for rough cut, but even that is like $400 of lumber just for an 8’ table top.
EDIT: For those downvoting both me and the commenters… why? What about this wood species selection post has offended you? Please just downvote me and not the kind folks responding. Thanks!

Cedar is my go to. Built one out of pine and it damn near exploded before I could properly finish it. Cedar is expensive but widely available. If you keep it finished with Australian Timber Oil it makes it pretty much weather resistant.

Cedar is soft and will certainly show dents and scratches but will not rot. Hardwoods like teak or ipe are durable and beautiful but are very very expensive. I work in the industry and have used both types. I built raised garden beds from old growth western red cedar 10 years ago that still have not rotted and I have built decks using ipe that get direct sunlight in 100 degree marine environments. The best inexpensive and long lasting option would be to build it out of a kiln dried pine sealed with a deck sealant. As long as the boards aren’t touching and water can drain you will have an outdoor tabletop that will last many years.
